Yeah, it meets the TOS. But I gotta tell you, even as a DIR proselyte, I find the GUE cheerleading getting more than a little old. The GUE guys seem to think that every time they get a hard-on it's newsworthy and they have some god given right to announce their latest class, demo or graduate to every board on the Internet. As you said in another thread, DIR-F courses were uncommon at one time and needed the help of Internet forums to help fill them. That's not the case anymore, and I for one would like to see a dedicated section for class announcements and demos that would be open to all agencies.

Alan

I think you're exagerating a bit there Alan. I see at least 30 threads about food in Cozumel before I see one about a GUE class.

I do agree, however, that a special class/demo annoucements section is a good idea.

The classes that are happening in Florida should be announced in the Florida section. Consequently, I moved the original announcement from the basic scuba forum to the PNW Orca Chummers forum, which is where it will be held. It affects people in that area the most, but he is also free to talk about it in adjacent areas as well.

I see your point, but allow me to elaborate on mine. I wasn't referring to geographic sections, but rather topical sections. I might be interested in stuff happening in the SoCal section, but I would intentionally block (or at least ignore) anything from the "Class/Demo Announcement" section.

the thread name. It allows you to preview what to read and what to ignore. I do think that a whole forum devoted to training announcements would by nature cover the entire US and be somewhat unweildy. But that's just my opinion.

Yes, upon further consideration it does not seem such a great idea. It would tend to invite people to post every OW class around.
