Well Jiminy cricket, your past contributions to this board have shown that you don't have a glimmer of understanding what DIR is all about. Now you've furnished proof that you are equally uninfomed about trademarks.

If you don't want to read about a DIR demo, I suggest that you don't click on a link to one. I can't imagine why you would want to upset yourself that way when you know how emotional you get about that topic.

Folks,

Mr. Connell likes to bring the rec.scuba noise over to this board. Everytime there is a mention of DIR or GUE class or demo, they like to yell spam.

It's not spam, and never has been. If you don't like the topic, don't click on it. Pretty simple, huh?

Unlike rec.scuba, which is akin to a drunken fraternity stag party, there are folks here that like to learn about new ideas, and the availability of classes that are not normally offered. In fact, there are many members of this board that have discovered DIR because of these postings. And we do it in a mostly civilized manner.

" Classes and advertising...

Our board was created with the concept of sharing information. Classes are probably the best way to accomplish this, so we make an exception in the name of safe diving. We do ask that the various classes be offered on the region board they will be offered in. Please refrain from continually offering OW, and AOW classes as that would clog up the board. Only truly trans-regional classes like Wreckmania should be posted outside of a region's forum.

Originally it was thought that DIR-F classes were rare enough that they were exempt from having to be posted in their region. While that was initially true, it is no longer. There might even come a time where they are as common as OW and thus would have no place on the board."

from a recent post by a senior regulator. and the above whining defence of the class has nothing to say about the trademark violation - is MHK selling halcyon gear or the "Dir Concept" or both????

If you read MHK's post, which you obviously didn't, this is NOT a class. It's FREE. ie no one is making any money on this. It's a DEMO.

As the USPTO had not issued a trademark ruling yet, I don't think it's an issue. But you should call up Jarrod and let them know that one of his GUE DIR instructors is using the "DIR" letters.

Oh yeah-please refer to the first paragraph. MHK is not selling anything. No equipment, no class. He's giving away his knowledge to those that want to enhance their dive pleasure. Even you could learn something. No charge.

Why don't you try to get the anti-DIR glare from your eyes next time? It quite obvious that for some reason you hate anything DIR or Haycon, and that's okay. But the arguements you're making just don't hold water.

James ,

It's a FREE demo, what are talking about?

Halycon has been labeling their gear w/ the phrase "The Doing it Right Company" for a long time now, so stop crying that somehow Halycon tried to pull a fast one with this trademark stuff. It's a marketing thing.

i'm sure james jones had "free" koolaid too.

You can do better than that. It's really old and worn out. No bite anymore.

You need to do something like this:

"You DIR guys and so rigid that you can't get out of trim"

No, I guess that wouldn't work either.:D

Do you have anything productive to add? It seems like you're going out of your way to decrease the signal to noise ratio.
