What do they say about word of mouth?

A good referral is worth 3 new customers... a bad experience loses 10?

I know this thread is already way too long, but I have to put in my two cents also...

ALL DIVE SHOPS ACT SNOBBISHLY! This sport/recreation is completely filled with absurdly rude people. Everybody who works in the profession thinks of themselves in such high regard that they tend to be offensive to anyone who comes into their shop. We get it you dive, and heck you might even have more dive experience than Joe Customer coming in your shop, but it gives you no right to treat them(us) poorly.

VENT VENT VENT, sorry...

P.S. I think every conch member has heard the same story about American Pro, why do we still go there????

I just spent some time looking all the way through this thread to build my opinion, which probably doesn't mean much but here it is:

The only important posts are #1, #23 and #52.
Everything is "He Said-She Said" except for one thing: Both sides agree on the group being late. And it was said that no phone call notification of running late to the store was done. American Pro states that the manatee tour portion was still offered, but b/c of being late, the dive at the end wasn't going to be offerd.

Nowhere have I found anything saying the family couldn't go on the tour, so it was thier choice not to go.

In post #52 it states they've been on this tour before, which means they must have had a good enough time to give return business. But for some reason, this time it was a different outcome. If the family would have been on-time, I bet this thread wouldn't even be here.

Which means the "rudeness" is the only concern left. And post #27 states this the best. A lot of time, rudeness come from other rudeness. Do you think every customer that morning got rude treatment, or just the ones who showed up late and argued about it at the counter. Now who knows how the "rudeness" was started, but I it looks like the guy behind the counter was "rude" enough to sill let the family go on the tour, even though it was going to hold up the rest of the tour. That was sarcasim if you missed it.

In a "he said she said", there's no way to know what happend, but this just looks like someone trying to publicly humiliate a dive store b/c they didn't get their way. I mean that if the store really was at fault here and took their money for something they didn't get, this would be a credit card company debate, not a scubaboard debate.

you have to take the prior history of this charter into account in this case
it's not an isolated incident

I know who I like to use.

I can't help but notice that Ron at American Pro Dive has logged on to Scubaboard numerous times since his original post on 5/4 but I guess he's just hoping this will go away at this point.

we dived last saturday with American Pro Diving, we were a tad bit late, and we were rushed the whole time, but we still made it (we showed up about 15 minutes before the video)...I mean, we were late, we deserved to be rushed, and because we were rushed, we made the trip...

Their facility is very nice, and their boat and Captain were super nice...

we had a great time snorkeling with the manatees and it was worth it...

sorry you had a bad experience, but it sounds like you were very late...I would definitely dive/snorkel again with APD...

just be on time next time...none of this would have happened if you were on time...

Jack

Jack,

Glad you had a good time. What all did you do with American Pro? Just the Manatee Snorkel / Dive or did you do more?

Dave

well my fiance from Europe and I went with my mom on the manatee snorkel trip, it took quite awhile to finally find some, but it was well worth it when we did!

we snorkeled with a mom, baby, and "boyfriend" manatee...

my fiance didn't want me to dive at all, so I didn't. The divers dived King's Springs, and I later asked them how was the dive, the two I asked said they didn't like it at all, it was murky and had too many tight fits, they acted as if they were glad the dive was over...

other than that, it was a very nice trip and our Captain (Gene) was super nice and funny...

Jack
