But do I get the 30# or 40#, and a S.S. or AL backplate?

I liked my 40# wing as a new diver in coldwater/drysuit. It let me do some fantastic weighting screw ups while i was learning and not drown.

YMMV.

"I may go to doubles, may not, maybe a pony bottle, may take it on vacation to Belize... You get the idea..."
Agree with all the others, a SS 6# plate is pretty versatile and while its heavier than a travel plate it beats the cost of sinking coin into a travel plate that you rarely use...unless you travel to Belize on a regular basis.

The harness, plate, lights, and ancillary rigging (e.g. velcro straps for drysuit inflation bottle) are all good to go with either singles or doubles.

Just don't make the mistake of trying to purchase one wing that you intend to use with both doubles and single tanks. Its a goober option. Buy two wings, a 55 lb double wing and a single wing; and a weighted SS Single Tank Adapter (STA) if you're going to be primarily using aluminum 80s.
