It sounds like Aldora was given conflicting directives - assign me to the DM who is handling inexperienced divers looking for easy dives but also assign me to the boat with experienced divers looking for challenging dives.

That is unfair …

I think her DM, who knew what her diving requirements were since they had been made clear to him, had a duty to explicitly let her know that he was being assigned to guide inexperienced divers and to explicitly give her the option to switch to a more experienced group.

As a staff member he has access to the dive roster and it would be covered in the staff briefing.

As a customer the OP would not be aware of the behind the scenes roster allocation of divers to DMs.

So then her beef should be with the DM she loves so much and not Aldora as a dive operator.

Again, I do not presume to speak for Aldora, but neither you nor I has any idea of what went on on Aldora's side of this story. In general, dive ops do what they can to satisfy the wants and expectations of their customers, but there is a limit to what they can do. Sometimes it just doesn't work out the way we would have wanted it to, and it is on us to adjust our expectations and attitude to make the best of it. If someone must be guaranteed to have a specific diving experience at a particular dive site, it can be done by hiring a private DM and a boat to take them there. Otherwise, as my dad used to say, you pays your money and you takes your chances.

Communication by the Dive Operation is key if they know they will not be able to meet the customer’s expectations. That way the customer has a choice.

You seem intent on disputing the customer’s position, without having any basis yourself for doing so. Do you have an axe to grind here ?

What are you talking about? Why do you seem intent on sullying a dive op's reputation without having any basis yourself for doing so; do you have an axe to grind? :D

People are often very quick to toss blame around when they do not know all the details of what happened. What isn't fair is to bash a dive op for allegedly being inattentive to a diver's situation when we have only heard a one sided account of what happened and the op's people are not around to defend themselves.

I've said my piece. Over and out.

There you are - front and center on another Aldora thread.

Over and Out ?

Well maybe - but I think the Aldora theme song is still playing rent free in your head.

He's actually defending Aldora (and all dive ops), not criticizing them. Really strange take.

You think I am a shill for Aldora? Go back and read the first few pages of this thread :D

BTW, I am not a shill for Blue Angel, either.

Just as we were sighing in relief, he’s back at the karaoke machine with the microphone :banghead:

:rofl3:
