Just one word . . . You have to be sure and let Aldora know you want to dive the day you get in. I assumed from the website that that was a given, and they had to scramble a bit to get a boat together for us the first day. But they did it.

Yes, this applies to any operation. I don't know an operation on this island that won't take you diving the afternoon of arrival provided that: your flight arrives early enough, arrangements are made within enough time to get the boat together, and they have at least 3 or 4 people to send the boat out...so this is not something exclusive to Aldora by any means.

I would beg to differ. We had a difficult time finding an op in Cozumel last year that would take us out the day we got there. We had a harder time finding a shop that would go out in the afternoon. And I emailed 4-5 shops, names you regularly see here. Aldora's was our best choice.

It's still not exclusive. Blue Angel will do it if you have enough folks who want to go out.

I never said that it was exclusive. If you took a poll of the entire population of Cozumel dive shops, I'm sure you would find several that would take you out the day you get there and every afternoon that you want to dive. But, since I don't have time to contact all the dive shops in Coz, I instead emailed several shops and Aldora was the only one out of my choices that guaranteed dives the day you get there and afternoon dives for my wife & I, regardless of the number of afternoon divers.

Wanted to chime in on diving the day of arrival. I am not sure on the other shops but Aldora guarentees a dive the day of arrival, unless of course you arrive so late in the day it is virtually impossible, i.e. late afternoon or evening. I have never heard them say it requires x amount of divers. There are no doubt numerous excellent dive shops, Aldora is who I dive with because of the comfort factor. I fall into the category of creature of habit. One of these trips I want to do a day of diving with Christi's shop because of the glowing reports from the divers. BTW scubabum2, I saw airfare this weekend from DFW for $99 round trip. We are going down for Fri-Mon to get a fix. Still counting $ for the ladies in pink?

What time of year was it?

How many people were in your group?

Too many divers are too quick to dive the day they arrive- I have done it -not any more. I really think you should let your bodies adjust a bit before you dive. Most times divers are not properly hydrated and rested when they arrive because of having to take early flights from home and not getting the proper amount of rest. It's also a vaction and you have other days to dive.

Any op that might suggest you rest the day of arrival might be doing it for your safety.
