Did my first experience dive in Hawaii with Captain Mac's Honolulu Scuba Company in August. Had a great time. I've done snorkeling in Hawaii and the Virgin Islands and always wanted to start SCUBA diving. The opportunity has come about and I will be starting my certification with Last Frontier Dive Company here in Anchorage in November. We'll do our open water dives in December in either Whittier or Seward. Hoping to eventually be able to start spearfishing in Alaska waters, or some place warmer. :shocked2:

Hi Akeric,

Welcome! This is only my second post, and my first was an intro. I just got my open water certification yesterday and I'm really excited about it. I'm in Georgia now, but I lived in Norway for many years and know all about cold, hehe.

Cheers,
Doug

I've been told one of the worst parts of the open water dive (in December) is when you have to take the mask off. My boss has his certification and he said the cold water hitting your face is murderous. Time will tell I guess.

Hey welcome to Scuba! Im new too i got my OW license in Late July because i was already 15 going on 16, Best choice ive ever made. Its totally changed my life. Alaska? Wow thats really cool, i couldn't imagine diving there i would be way toooo cold. it would be cool to watch the killerwhales up close though. Ive only dived here in San Diego (la Jolla Shores) and Moorea Tahiti (2 dives there) I currently have 6 logged dives but hope to get way more!

welcome aboard
