Thanks. I went with Legend LX too - same reason. What octopus did you go with?
I went with the legend octo. I didn't really think about getting an LX octo since I knew the legend itself was supposed to breathe so well.

Funny I guess, since I could've done the same with the main reg. Whatever..

if you can afford it, get the legend octo. perfect compliment to the lx

I did. Now if I could figure out a way to secure this super-$$ octo on a rental bcd...based on my search its between 'Skum ball' which may or may not cause a free-flow without some extra holes, a square version of the ball, and a rubber band...Any other suggestions?

free-flow? I don't get that problem with mine unless it falls and hits the purge button directly, and then it's only momentarily. never had it happen when connected to the bcd with a holder like this one:

is that the same thing LP sells for $3.95 as AQUOH? Does it fit the AL mouthpiece?

This Skumball gets better reviews but many say it causes octo freeflow when you hit the water:

They do look the same, I just surfed google imiages till I found one that looked like the one I have.

Again, the only time I've had my regs "free flow" it was more along the lines of the purge button hitting the water just right.

I also have to ask if this is not a cause of where on the BC the octo holder is attached. mine is sort of on the upper inside corner of the right side vest, just above the cumberbun/waist strap. I've seen these things mounted at the bottom edge of the BC, which provides more of a direct contact of the purge button with the water.

Did you have any problems inserting stock AL octo mouthpiece into this kind of holder? Some say it can be a PITA inserting it as its pretty tight, depending on mouthpiece design. Of course another concern is mouthpiece detaching from the octo when yanked in case of emergency...

haven't had any problems at all.
goes in easy enough for me, comes out easy enough to use but not so easy it falls out. starts the dive there and ends the dive there.

and I just did a visual, I'm using the Legend LX octo

looks like this: looks like this

I got it as a set when I got the LX ACD Reg (the gold version)
