Hi,

I have the following second stages and wondering which are best to hook up to my rig. The first stages don't factor in as my Halcyon firsts (ahem, SP MK25s I meant) are DIN and my AL ones aren't.

Anyhow...

2 x AL Legend Supreme LX seconds
or
Halcyon Halo primary second + Halcon Aura backup second

I know the H firsts are re-badged MK25s but no idea what the H seconds are.

Anyone have any idea how the the H regs compare to the AL ones? The AL ones are cold water and I don't think the H ones are, at least they don't have the heat sinks. They look kinda cheaper too really. But I would assume that H regs must be decent quality, but I'd like to hear opinions on this as well as comparisons with the AL ones (which incidentally I quite like).

Any thoughts comments etc. welcomed as always :)

Thx,
J

Both the Halcyon 1st-stages AND the Halcyon 2nd-stages are ALL rebadged Scubapros....it's been a while since I last looked but I believe the 2nds are G250's. Visit the Scubapro WWW site and you'll soon see....

Cheers SF, I'll check out the G250s and see what the blurb says...

The Halo is a ScubaPro G250V and is an awesome Reg. I have it used with my MK17 since I dive colder waters and performs great. And I am sure as you ask anyone on here the G250 has a long history of being a tried and true Regulator. I have had my system into waters at 42F and have had no issue's. I dive in Northeast so not ideal conditons. If you do a little search you will find a lot reviews on this regulator. It is an awesome Cold water/warm water any water regulator. I believe the Aura is the R395.

From ScubaPro Website:
This exceptional second stage features a 35% improvement in breathing performance when compared to its popular predecessor: the G250HP. It’s a terrific cold water combination.

G250V is a full metal system, composed of ametal inlet tube, stainless steel orifi ce, metal inhalation-resistance control knob, and a metal hose connector/heat exchanger.
Serious construction for serious divers. New VIVA knob for easier Venturi adjustment. High-flow exhaust valve to reduce effort.

Thanks Shady, useful info. Good to know they're happy cold. The mouth pieces are a bit narrow for my mouth but that's easily fixable.

I was using my legend as my primary and aura as my backup but might try out the halo for my primary once I get a new mouthpiece.

Cheers,
J

The thing that's really legendary about the legend is that they pinched it from Apeks. (ahem)
You have excellent taste.
Who's ahem?

Same company, no? I though Aqua Lung and Apeks are the same outfit?

Nice regs both though I'll agree.... :)

Ahem are the ACME manufacturers for Halcyon regs - didn't you know? :D

I Own the MK17/G250V and a set of Atomic M1's both are great reg's I would say almost the same as for breathability. The Atomi is a little more dry breathing of a reg then the G250V. If i was diving really cold waters I would go with the MK17/G250V as it is a true sealed reg Vs the Enviro kit piston. But both are top performers. My G/F also has a mk25/S600 and MK17/G250V. She found when switching around the Regs. She like the G250V Primary Mk17 1st and S600 as Back-up. Either way you got great reg's that will work.

Essentially your choice is between Scubapro or Apeks......not too shabby..... lots of others have debated the same question.

Yeah, I guess it's a choice between two goods. I'm pretty happy about that part
