OK, it's time to replace my reg of 14 years (Sherwood Blizzard). After doing some research I'm looking at the AL LX and the XTX 100. I know that both get good reviews are basically the same. But I'm interested in getting some opinions from people that have tired either one.

So all comments and feedback is welcome. Thanks.

both are kick ass regs.... you can't go wrong with either.

check out this article. It shows that both regs perform almost exactly the same. which isn't a surprise since Aqualung owns Apeks.

ScubaLab Special Report: Muscle Regs

**Note: this article was originally in the November 2005 issue of ScubaDiving magzine. (but for some reason i can't find it on their website anymore but found this PDF on another site). But it's one of the few reviews that gives a head to head comparison between some of the higher performing regs.

(Some of the two brands regulators use the same parts. not sure if these two models do or not... but might be.)

I've got the Legend LX and I have no complaints about how the regulator performs. Out of the several regs I've had and several more that I've used/rented/borrowed, etc the Legend LX is prob the highest performing one I've used.

BTW... remember that right now Aqualung has a $100 rebate or something going on... so don't let your dealer "forget" to offer that to you.

hope this helps.

Mike

The first stage on these two are different and have different parts. (but no problem of availiabity of either)
Second stages only look different, internal parts all same.

I believe the "rebate" ends in Aug.

You might notice the Titan LX equals them and can often be purchased dirt cheap.

I just got the Legend and love it.. It breathes easier than Titan LX the deeper you go but you only start to notice that at 150+ feet or something. And yes, there is $100 instant rebate on the Legend and $50 instant rebate off of the Titan LX.

Both are great. We have a mixed bag of Legends and Apeks (legend, legend supreme, XTX200, XTX40). Due to upgrading over time, I have Legend on the left post and XTX 200 on the right for doubles (wife wanted her legend back). Hard to tell the difference even at 140 feet.
