The Legend should only be used with the Legend Octo or the Egress (Apeks) octo because they are balanced. This is needed because of the increasing IP of the Legend and Apeks firsts. AL has a warning about this. The Legend Octo deal is a good one because it is so expensive.

If you really like the intergrated second then I would recommend the Titan LX or the new SP MK17 which doesn not have a rising IP.

Good point.

one other option is the choose the Legend LX Supreme instead. That would lower the Intermediate Pressure.

The only "real" difference in the Legend LX and the Legend LX Supreme is the setting of the intermediate pressure from the factory. They set the Supreme at something like 135psi instead of something like 150psi for the regular Legend LX. The only other differences are cosmetic (the silver ring, the snowflake, and the removeable mouthpiece guard).

They just lower the IP on the Supreme for colder water performance.

Of course there's nothing keeping him from buying the Supreme and raising the IP also (assuing his octo is within AL guidelines). That's what I did with mine.

I contacted Aqualung about this, (because I purchased an Legend LX before the free octo offer). I was interested in the Aqualung ABS Octo, and was concerned about the balance issue. He told me that the ABS octo was fine to use with the Legend LX

Well I'm lost with the IP, was never mentioned to me when I suggested to go to the alt on the low pressure. Is it really a concern I should take into account when purchasing? I dont "need" the alt on the low pressure, just thought it would suit me better.

In the box that either my Legend or Legend Octo came in was a printed warning from AL to only use the Legend Octo or Egress with it. I think it also states this in their catalog on the page for octos. I don't think this is just marketing given that it makes sense. I have seen a few posts here about people complaining about ABSs leaking at depth attached to a Legend. Apeks only has the balanced octos. Anyway that is what I have seen...

jmps, I understand what they are saying here...

but then also realized that I have the Aqualung ABS octo (the hockey puck shaped octo). I've never had a problem with it leaking at depth. Only time it free flowed was right after I got in cold water one time and the mouthpiece was facing up. it stopped as soon as I took it out of the water and didn't do it ever again...

So... I think that a lower IP device would most likely work.

I guess this could be overcome by just detuning just a bit more for the higher IP. It did help sell me that expensive octo. I bought last year. :-)

Rhyz I just wanted you to have all the info on this reg. I am sure that you will really like it. You got the AOK from AL so I guess it is just up to your preference. Enjoy!

Well last night dove with the Balance on (was a size to big as he didnt have my size at the time). Was a nice fit but could have been better with the small size. I found it alot more comfortable the full jackets type bcd's we are using. Seemed alot less restrictive. Wierd that I also needed 2 more pounds, only difference in equipment was the Balance and the Legend LX ACD (yeah used that last night too and loved it). Very easy to breath from, and light. Fit my mouth better to it seemed. I would have thought that my previous weight setup would have been fine seeing as the previous jackets had all the other crap on it and would have been more bouyant. Tanks was the small too, think its a 120, not sure though.

Either way liked both in the pool last night.

On a side note, I just might save the Legend octo instead of putting a ABS on the low pressure.

My semi-LDS called yesterday and said my XTX200 was in AND the Egress octo came in also, a nice surprise to the both of us .:D

Between the two regs that you're looking at the Aqualung Reg with the free alternate air source is a better value.

We would recommend the Mares MR12 Rebel ($199) as an excellent performer in the under $200 range. It has a diaphragm sealed first stage and a proven second stage. You can add an alternate air source and computerized console like our Atmos 2 (only $389) console and create your own regulator package at an incredible price.

Good luck!

All I can say is I placed an order for an XTX200 today at my LDS . He said I should have it by next Friday but may be a few days longer before the free Egress octo comes in. For the money the Aeris Atmos Pro is one of the better deals from what I've read. I talked with a guy the other day that has an Atmos Pro and he loves it. Scubatoys has them one sale for $279.

the aeris may be ok but who will service it? Anyone local to you? the lds you are taking the class at? you already established a relationship with them..you can get a titan regulator with a free oct for $298..the lds will most likely sell it at 10% less than that..again with a free oct..and full warrenty..so now, what is the better deal??
