Current airfare from Atlanta to Roatan is about $750. Anyone know how that compares to the normal rate from Atl?

I've been waiting for fares to drop from NYC. Except for 2+ stops via Taca (they dropped a couple of weeks ago), the fares have been $676 or higher for months. This is more than $100 higher than 2 yrs ago. Your $750 fare seems a bit outrageous, actually.

Well, I just bought a ticket for May from Denver ($650 RT). When you look at the ticket, about $380 of that is taxes & departure fees.

Not sure how much of that has changed in the last two years, but it gives you an idea of how much can the prices really drop.

How is it that TACA can sell a complete round trip ticket from Cleveland (connection via United) for about $350 yet these other fares have about that much in taxes and fees? I'm baffled.

I have been looking at Continental and cannot get there in June for less than 678.00 from Texas:dontknow: I paid 615.00 last year:shocked2:

TACA is a non american carrier they don't have all the bs taxes we do:(

I doubt it will get any cheaper. we booked early back in nov. for our trip in mar. for 520.00 pp. out of houston.

Those fees are spot on for RTB. Expect fares to rise in the next ten years too. Its just getting too hard on the crews to remove their retirement and cut their pay in half in order to give everyone a $99 one way fare to paradise.

No one wants another Colgan/Buffalo crash but everyone complains about the cost of a ticket. Folks, lower fares mean safety shortcuts, tired crews with bad attitudes, lousy service, no food or snacks (as in our return voyage to ATL two weeks ago). If you've flown in the past 5 years you know the lack of enthusiasm by airlines to serve the public. Only the public can change that by paying higher fares.

Places like Expedia and Kayak aren't necessarily killing passengers in the long run, my own airline, like all the other majors, is responsible for allowing deregulation in the 70s, but always always always searching for the lowest fare is going to get you exactly what you are willing to pay for.

We are all in a hole that we can't dig ourselves out of without some serious government response to change the industry. $700 to Roatan is a steal.

Bargains happen. My fare from Lubbock dropped $200 back when I booked in Nov: $560 RT including taxes and fees other than departure; was actually $3 cheaper than booking Cozumel at the time I booked even tho they came back down on Coz.

It varies a lot with when you look and when you want to go but like most you didn't give dates. Sign up for daily email price alerts on every date pair you'd consider at Sidestep.com. It does look a good bit cheaper traveling on Wednesdays from ATL.

Your fares have varied a lot recently....
