Bananas are gooooood, and curse free. Sorry, you asked for this.
Bananas are good, but as far as I can tell they're definately cursed. I love them on land, but the sea don't play that.

Are bananas cursed or was it that they might have harbored poison insects that brought a (curse) about.

I feel your pain.

Just out of curiosity, was this for a regular mix (under 40%) or was it a high O2 mix?

It was suppose to be a 30, which when I say 30 to me that is the max and it should be 30 or under. Got 30.9 and 30.6 after fiddling with it. Definitely a live and learn experience.

02 analyzers are generally accurate to within +/- 1 as well. As you could tell even when you measured it, the exact number can change from one person to the next, especially if you are using analyzers without flow controls. I would consider your fills perfect.

Last time I was on a beautiful and well maintained dive boat that had bananas aboard:
  • The depth sounder and fish finder both went out for an hour or two
  • The fuel guage was discovered to read incorrectly, leaving us running on fumes when we went into Race Point for a fill.
  • The decimal coordinates we were given got entered into a minutes-based navigation system, leaving us miles away from the target
  • we couldn't find one wreck despite having a sidescan image and verified coordinates
  • A stiff current kicked up on the second wreck, thwarting the first 5 attempts to drop a shot line on it.
  • we logged 5 minutes of bottom time in 12 hours at sea due to other complications.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't a poisonous insect problem.

I agree. A margin of error is built in to your tables to account for this.

My dive buddy and I have a bunch of al80s, and we're thinking of getting two of them O2 cleaned for use with enriched air. Where should we take them? How many shops between Worcester and Cape Ann (where he keeps his boat) fill enriched air, anyways?
Thanks, Chris (Cambridge/Bolton MA)
