My daughter is 10. Her and my wife just got certified. I set them up with Perdix AI in recreational mode. They love the ease of use, large easy to read screen and AI. I only put the tank pressure on for now. No sac and gtr yet. Will add that to the display after they have a little more experience. Obviously overkill for them, but…… I love Sheerwater and I know the Perdix inside and out. So it is easier to help them learn and mange the computer. I also have both of their transmitters paired to mine so I can see their status and gas utilization at a glance. Nice to see if she is checking in with me at appropriate levels without prompting. Hope this helps.

Obviously you don’t rely on transmitter for tank pressure, in my experience they were never 100% reliable so as long as she has a console gauge as backup I don’t see a problem, hell, young folks are better suited to technology than we are 😉

I do. My experience is 100% reliability over many years.

Tbf I tried them in about 2009, but having had them fail during deco dives I just never bothered since, so not for me, I’d always encourage a back up gauge,,, as you can bet your bottom dollar if one does fail it would be when you could really do without it,,,

I’m only answering the call of someone’s opinion, and it’s ok with some (not all) people coming out with scything comments but this is based on nearly 3,000 dives experience with a short dip being over 2hrs and some over 5hrs under the belt, imo gauges are more suitable for what I do,
