Aeris AI data connection

I just bought a used AI and notice there is no cover on the computer port. Is this normal or is there supposed to be something covering it?

I can't find any pics on the web showing a side view with the data port.

Mines open and always has been. I think they also serve the purpose of water activation.

Theoju is correct. Also, if you use the data cable to download dives, you may need to play with the positioning of the connector to the port. It is very picky.
