The Apeks 1st stages (non swivel) are deigned for use with doubles, therefor the hoses are routed much nicer than with the SCUBAPROS.

Hmm. Ya got pictures Chick? I don't consider my Mk20 hoses to be routed badly, but there is always room for improvement.

Ok I see it again which regulator is best.
Hear a universal answer,
Pick a regulator you can afford, one than can be service fairly easy, one that’s environmentally sealed if possible,
And one that breath’s easy at deeper depths.
Apeks, scuba pro, Poseidon all have good quality regulators.

Mech- Be happy to send you picsof the hoserouting. I used Mk 15's for years, and switched over because I thought this was a lot cleaner.

Genesis- I teach for an LDS, and I buy at cost. At cost the Apeks 1st, 2nd and a pressure guage is 27.35 ;ess than the SCUBAPRO 1st and 2nd. Dont know what LP sells them for and really dont care......

I've got 2 Atx100s (Din) for doubles and 2 DS4/Nitrox (Din) for stages.
I have another Atx100 (yoke) setup for recreational (non-tech) diving.

The 100s are not easy to come by in the US anymore but the 200s are supposed to be just a bit better anyway. I can't say either way for sure on that as I havn't tried a 200.

Although I have the very limited edition specially built for doubles SP Mk20Dbl models ;) ,I know the pics will be great. I'll leave the gate open for the mailman...

thanks joens!

Also seriously considering changing from sp to apeks because of the routing. I'm not happy with the sp - I've tried various options but there always seems to be one hose going at a strange angle.

sorry no pics!

I need to invest in a set of regs as I am starting to get involved with tec diving. I have been advised to look at the 'xstream' but the recent article in Divernet slagged them off something terrible.
Do any of you guys have any opinion on them or offer an alternative. I wont skip on quality am not over concerned about price - just dont want to spend a bomb on them if they are crap. The other ones ive been offered are the Apex axt50 and the Scubaporo mk25

I don't know where you are because you didn't put it in your profile. But if you are over seas, you will have to consider servicing & parts issues w/alot of mfgrs. Scuba Pro is supported very well internationaly. I don't dive them, but I know alot of folks who do. Personally... Living in Florida & diving cavern/cave, I dive Poseidons ONLY. My buddy does as well. I read the artical you're referring to & they don't know what they're talking about. The 2nds may have needed to be detuned a bit, but ALL of the Poseidon Jetstream/Odin & Cyklons I have ever seen BLAST air as you open the valve & then seal in an instant. If they don't... better to know B-4 you get in the water then in.

Check the Poll that's going. Most (NOT ALL) DIR folks don't like Poseidon because they're upstream regs & you "can't take them apart under water."
