New to digital UW photography here(have shot 35mm MMII since '95) and recently bought the Canon A570is & UW case for future 'filming'....It came witha 16mb card(will forget it for UW use) but I purchased a 1GB(for$.97--could not pass it up) and a 2 GB card..My question is will these be enough for a 15 to 18 dive trip or do I need to consider ??another 2 GB card??...Plan on taking some UW video while I'm shooting...

Thanks in advance for any help & info on this .........

Since the Canon shoots JPEG, which is a fairly small format, you should get about 1500 pictures out of 3GB, or about half that if you use the highest resolution, for poster size pictures. I typically shoot about 50-100 pictures per dive. Many divers bring along a laptop so they can download and view their pictures during the trip and clear their memory cards. Your results may vary.

I download my photos off the card to my laptop every day. Then write them to a DVD. I'm a little anal about my photos. :D

My concern is losing phtos because a card got corrupted or flooded or lost or..........

I'd rather spend $100 to buy an extra card than lose the pics of something cool on a $2K trip. Of course, I carry 4 4GB cards with me too. :11:
