I use LightRoom. The subscription model irritates me, but I like the software. I also found that since many underwater photographers use LR, there are quite a few tutorials specific to underwater editing which helped since I was brand new to editing.

My wife uses FinalCut Pro. She tried several other free and for purchase programs but found FinalCut Pro the easiest for her to white balance ambient light video.

For hardware:
At home, I use a mac mini (2 year old with intel chip + 8GB memory). Not the highest spec'd machine, but it runs LR very smoothly.
When traveling, I have an older Lenovo Thinkpad carbon. It struggles with LR, and I'll be replacing it with a Macbook Air soon.

My wife edits video at home on both her mac mini (M1) and Macbook Air (M1). Neither machine has the highest specs, but they both run the Apple FinalCut Pro software extremely well. On the road, she takes her Macbook Air. In retrospect, she really only needed the Macbook Air with an optional monitor, but she opted for the mac mini first.

It seems mac OS/hardware is optimized for apple software and most likely Adobe as well, since so many creatives use Adobe on mac.

I'm not an Apple Fanboy, but I was really impressed with the Macbook Air performance.

I prefer to edit at the end of each day whether diving at home or traveling. This gives me a chance to make adjustments to my camera, strobes and shooting technique daily. I also don't have a mountain of editing to complete once returning from a trip.
