Gas stations around have dump stations and water. Some for free other for 5-10 dollars
Advice for a dirt bag scuba diver?

You must have funds for food, gas, etc, you have the funds to pay for diving expenses also or do you need to work as you travel?

I have enough saved to last me a while. I'd like to find work while I'm there but I have time to search if need be
Sounds like a great setup and way to get diving.
It's a little unusual in Florida but can (has been) be done. Particularly around cave country where there's less dense population and more 'locals'. Work I don't know about as I am Canadian. Perhaps casual work at a dive shop if one of them has noticed your post and aren't horrified and likes your approach to life.

Haha thanks! Your answer was actually super helpful. Van life is pretty ubiquitous in Utah, so I was thinking similar people might be able to direct me places in Florida but maybe not! Thanks a lot for your reply!

There's a big difference in population and space between the west and south florida. I used to have a 22 ft class C, I traveled all over when I worked on a ship. I did a lot on boondocking. There are few places you could park a small camper for the night in S FL without getting bothered by the police and very very few places you could do it safely. You can hop around from rest area, to truck stop, to all night casinos, to marina parking, changing every night, but that gets old fast. Hotels are strict about checking their parking lot and big box stores have no overnight parking signs.
I would start checking out campgrounds where you might be able to trade work for a site. Sites in RV parks located in S FL charge hotel prices when there are sites available. "Snowbirds" come down in November and stay through April. I know of a private campground around Sebastian Inlet. They have about 5 transient sites, the rest of the sites are occupied by people that reserve them a year in advance, year after year. The state parks are the same way in winter but with a 2 week maximum. People make their reservations Jan 1. There is no BLM or Forest Service land. The developers are buying up trailer parks (which used to have a few RV sites for transients) to build townhouse development.
I don't want to sound discouraging but it would take a lot of creativity to live the vagabond life style in the city. Easiest thing might be to rent a room near where you want to settle in.

If you wish to hang around our lovely state you can dive Sand Hollow near St. George all year, it may get in the low 50's.
Lake Mead is only a few hours away.
There are a number of open spaces that you could camp at, much more than along the wasatch front, if that's where you're located.
Not sure what ratings you're trying to achieve but there are a number of facilities around.
Thread title mystifies me. Where I come from "dirt bag" means something pretty reprehensible. Did the OP mean to write "dirt poor"?
