I have recently seen a doctor about some foot pain and found out that it is Achilles Tendonitis and also found bone spurs on the back of the heel. My doctor was concerned about the heel strap that I use that may be an irritant to the tendon. I currently have the Mares Volo Power fins with a spring strap and the APS Mantaray fins also with a spring strap. I also wear 2lb Sea Soft ankle weights, 7mm Booties and a 7mm wetsuit.

Is there anything else out there that will help my condition? I have some stretching exercises to do. Would a closed foot fin help? I've got to get a different pair of shoes too.

I can't say anything about "helping" the situation, and I am not a doctor so I can't and won't make medical recommendations, but if you and your doctor believe that a heel strap pulling against you is aggravating your condition then there is a simple solution- STOP USING HEEL STRAPS!

of course I know of only one fin out there that you can do that with. They're called Force Fins. you don't need heel straps with them.
