I would not use that macgyver’d solution. Having a fin strap break or come off is not good.

Yes. They last over 1,000 dives and are much easier (and cheaper) to use than spring straps. They don't break like the stock rubber straps that come with Jetfins. I've been using bungees for nearly two decades without having one break.
