2009: Bought a broken-down-ol' rebreather and rebuilt it into a sweet unit (Classic Inspo with Hammerhead electronics , JJCCR BOV, DIY frame, etc). Completed CCR classes to trimix. After many hours shallow, have done a handful of deep deco dives on the unit to 250'.

2010: Put more time on the unit. One trip to San Diego planned in March. The rest, we'll see... :eyebrow:

2009
-finally obtained OW certification (I've wanted this since I was a teenager)
-did 10 post-cert dives in the St Lawrence and started AOW dives (tried the deep dive, navigation, night) at a local quarry
-bought gear! all I need now is a drysuit, better compass and better computer!
-also bought a "dive friendly" vehicle (lease on my mazda3 sedan expired - time for a crossover!)

2010
-finish AOW, do rescue course in the late summer
-hopefully get a drysuit - but saving for my second degree may put a hamper in that
-do all our local Wednesday night dives down in the river
-get on some charters in Lake Ontario or out of Brockville, ON
-do some diving in the Canadian Maritimes (where my family lives), possibly do the PADI wreck course down there so I can meet a few divers!

2011 - Ice diving. :)

Returned to diving after a 22 year absence! The best thing about 2009 has been diving with my 2 sons. I look forward to hundreds more dives with them over the next 22 years!

Bob

I still have one dive trip left this year. Heading down to north FL over the New Year for some cavern diving. So far for 2009:

Logged dives: 71
Wreck dives: 16 ... North Carolina (2 trips) and Boynton Beach (MV Castor)
Coolest dive(s):
- Diving with sand tigers on the Spar (6x)
- Diving the U352 (2x)
Confined water dives working as a DM: 17 pool sessions

Training:
- Finally finished DM in Feb and began "working" (actually volunteering!) as a DM for fun.
- Completed basic survey training with Ohio's Maritime Archaeology Survey Team (MAST).
- Completed Cavern training ... and loved it! I hope to start cave in 2010.

Disappointments:
- I didn't get in any deco diving. Absolutely none. I hope to change that in 2010.
- I didn't make it out on any MAST survey trips.
- I didn't do any Great Lakes wreck dives. That's a big disappointment, but the 2 NC trips were a nice substitute.

Trips/Outings ... total of 29 days diving:
Gilboa Quarry 9 days
North Carolina 2 trips, total of 7 days, total of 15 dives
Ginnie Springs FL 3 days
France Park Quarry 2 days
Hidden Paradise Quarry 2 days
White Star Quarry 2 days
Blue Stone Quarry NC 1 day
Boynton Beach FL 1 day
Blue Springs Quarry 2 day

2010 Goals:
Complete Basic/Intro to Cave and a follow-on trip to cave dive at that level
Do some recreational Great Lakes wreck dives
Do some staged decompression Great Lakes wreck dives
Continue to fine tune technical diving skills
Lose 10 lbs and improve my physical fitness
Complete the 160 mile, one-day event called RAIN ... Ride Across INdiana
Achieve 100 "Thanks Received" posts on ScubaBoard :D
