The question is no longer about who is willing to travel (that is everyone's own decision to make). The question is will your destination welcome you or are you flying to a place that doesn't want you there. Check out what is going on even within the states for those who fly to Hawaii... Fly to Hawaii and before you exit the airport they will record where you are staying and if you are staying in a hotel they will force you to stay confined in that hotel room and will track you via your smart phone or other means. Some hotels are only offering a "1 entry key" to comply with this BS so you can enter your room but if you leave it you can't get back in again and have to explain why you left. Insanity!

I was just reading about the caymans, it’s in the basic scuba thread. They are going the super strict route on this whole thing - I gotta read around and see what other islands are doing

Manhattan is an island :)

I booked AA for Dec visit...as I always do.

We too have been visiting in Dec for many years now... We have the air miles (as usual) and we see the flights we can book that are perfect BUT the question is whether or not Coz is going to welcome tourists, quarantine them, confine them to their hotel rooms or establishments, etc. The diving is great but 1/2 of my vacation is also spent topside enjoying the restaurants and such and if police are running down those walking about after 5PM and there are no restaurants open who wants to deal with that? I know I don't.

At some point these tourist destinations need to realize that those who elect to travel to them are taking the same or greater risks than those who may cater to them at their vacation destination. Want to live today and take your risks or survive tomorrow hunkered down in your house posting on facebook and various other boards forever?

Can cnx our resort day before without penalty...the airfare was $314 RT from NYC with a no charge change fee. This was a no brainer.

I don't agree. When we go to Cozumel it's a one time thing and we only come in close proximity to locals and others while we are there. If you live on Cozumel you are exposed to constant year round traffic coming in from all over the world. It seems to me a lot more risky for them than for us.

Living in Austin as I do, I was glad they decided to cancel SXSW to avoid bringing in the hordes of people from the rest of the world. Cozumel has it like that every day.

I think you can look out about two weeks at this point, maybe that’ll stretch into a month. Six months from now depends a lot on the next eight weeks!!

I was responding to a political/off topic/inflammatory comment which still remains. I guessing the moderator has a political agenda of there own.

A ScubaBoard Staff Message...

I hoped to keep the drama to a minimum when I deleted the off topic/political/inflammatory posts by notifying the posters directly and not posting publicly here why their posts were deleted. To be clear, this is the COZUMEL SCUBA forum. If you want to bitch about responses by organizations in other countries, this ain't the place. If you want to talk about Republicans versus Democrats...again, not the right forum (that would be the Pub, which is a double-opt in). If you want to call a group of people Nazis, that won't stand anywhere on this board. I left up one post that I felt was "on the edge" of deletion, deciding to err on the side of latitude. And if you think I acted unilaterally, you'd be wrong...we received about a 1/2 dozen complaints by members reading the thread.

Feel free to carry on discussion about AA's cancelled flights to Cozumel however. Marg, SB Senior Moderator

Only when my post needs to be removed. I try to behave as our unpaid Mods serve us well, but I get carried away at times. I reply with apologies.
