We will be on Continental but have 3 younger kids so if I can convince their parents to take some stuff I think they will have some room counting carry ons.

The webpage for the Red Cross indicates we need to buy from the supplier list they posted. Is this correct? I think we can get alot of these items free from some various sources. They may not be the same brand indicated on the sheet but of the same size/type. Does anyone know if they will accept alternate brands or slightly different items than described on the list?

NO PROBLEM WITH OTHER BRANDS. The list is a guideline, and they get good prices on bulk through the suppliers listed. Shop around locally or seek donations etc. My dentist donated 50 tooth brushes instantly when asked to sell them to me at cost.

I usually go with the cheapest supplier for the product we need (mds. + freight.) This market is difficult to keep track of and I'm not married to any of the suppliers listed on the website. If you find better, please let me know so I can buy from them, too!

The product specs are important, however. One item missing from the list is 10-lancet discs for the Ascensia Breeze 2 blood glucose monitor. Cruz Roja recently began using this unit for in-house testing and it consumes 2 discs per week.

Thanks to Woodman, I found a couple of good bandage deals at Overstock.com (using a 10%-off coupon I received via email) and he discovered a few other good vendors as well, including Medstar.com for sutures.
