Blue Angel Resort is a small, "divers" hotel. The name "resort" has been added basically, because now the dive op and hotel are under one umbrella. It's is a property of something like 22 rooms. Nothing super fancy, but good sized rooms, with small refrigerators, nice balconies overlooking the pool, dock & ocean, the rooms have safes for Passports and such. Small but adequate pool, it never seems over crowded. Some of the best shore diving on the island is just off the beach, Scuba Club offers the same.

It is VERY quiet in the evening and can be quite romatic by the pool or down on the dock at sunset. Eva, the owner, may even arrange a pool or dock-side dinner on request.

Her and her husband have made many improvements to amenities and services at both the hotel & dive op over the past couple of years.

It is also one of the few small hotels, or any size really, that is right on the water, most of them are located accross the street from the beach. Here you even get a great sunset from your room.

The truth is, Cozumel is a tropical island, and it's Mexico! Latin America!!...IT IS romantic!!

And the the dive op is consistantly rated very high by many SB'ers, including me. I have recommended them to personal friends as well as folks here for several years.

If you are looking for more of a true resort type place, and want to spend a little more, I'd recommend El Cid La Ceiba. Again, right on the water and more of a resort type hotel. I would still suggest using Blue Angel, Dive with Martin or BlueXTSea for a dive op.

Ditto what Sharky said, plus SCC is also great IMO. The biggest difference to me between SCC and Blue Angel is SCC includes all meals, and at BA you will probably eat most dinners in town, though the restaurant is fine.

After staying and diving with Blue Angel a few times with "the guys" I finally persuaded my wife to come on a trip "just the 2 of us". Of course, I booked at one of the more upscale properties with romance and her comfort as the priorities. On day 4 we walked over to Blue Angel so she could have a look at where I normally stayed. We had lunch at the restaurant and lingered a bit so she could see the rooms and the grounds. As we left to go back to our luxury hotel, she just glared at me and said: "Why aren't we staying HERE?"

And that was BEFORE the renovations. I've taken her twice since and she loves it there. The photos on the web site provide an accurate view of the place. It's small, quiet and low-stress.

Blue Angel Resort

SCC is AI?! Scratch what I said about trying it next trip - we simply can't pass up any of our favorite restaurants in San Miguel. Blue Angel is sounding worth a look.

SCC includes food and diving, but not drinks. Food is 3 meals per day, sit-down.

Maybe we should see if the original poster comes back on and gives some specifics - we could go on & on about great dive places. just sayin'

Another vote for Blue Angel. It's small and intimate, nice without overt opulence, far enough from town to avoid the crowds but close enough for a cheap cab ride to great restaurants, and my (and my wife's) idea of heaven on earth.

I could not agree more. Can't wait to return next year............I posted a review called cozumel trip report October 09 for details.

We have stayed at a number of places on Coz over the years but have found our "home away from home" at Residencias Reef Condos just south of The Wyndum. Wouldnt stay anywhere else now. We have been staying there for about 4 years and go twice a year. We like low season so there are rarely people at either pool and its quiet.
Can u please elaborate on the Residencias Reed Condos like price/ amenites and price for divers ect as its only my husband and I diving in March.
