A place to stay in Cozumel

my wife and i were at aldora villas for 9 nts early may. very nice. several lots to our south was the mx presidential retreat simliar to u.s.a. camp david. the couples we overlapped with at the villas were all interesting and fun. steve who is managing the place for the summer and early autumn could not have been better. aldora boats pick you up and leave you off at villas. nice fresh water rinse and hang area. beautiful sunsets with folks sittiing in padded lounge chairs recalling dive adventures. nice snorkling with resident octopus. we organized an unsuccessful lion fish hunt one eve. there were always a few tanks around with some air left in them for anyone wanting shore dive.

I probably shouldn't be advertising this but Villa Las Anclas might be exactly what you're looking for. It's not the usual two beds and a bathroom but small condos with a loft bedroom, very romantic, right in town but also completely quiet and they're putting in a small pool this summer. And it's rated #1 out of over 60 Cozumel hotels. Prices are around a hundred per and it may be less in low season - I usually pay $80 but I'm a repeat and know them well. Only drawback - no beach but who cares when you're only a block from it. Look here and see if it's what you're looking for:

Is it still a going concern? I walked past it last week and there was paper up over the windows. It is (or was) owned by some of the same folks who used to own Blue Angel.

That's been there since Dec I believe - doing some remodeling in that space. I got a quote from them last night for late July - $75 per night. Hard to beat....

Yeah - the reviews on Trip Advisor from people who go there are pretty solid. That's why they went from #2 last year to #1.

You're right. Pedro (who was introduced to us as Alejandra's father) does or did own it. He gave Sealskin98 and myself a guided tour there several years ago. I have to agree, it's a beautiful place.
