2) On 20th AV between Xel Ha and 17th is the park in front of Corpus Christi church. It is a very pretty park with lots of memorial benches and a central Gazebo. I like walking down there in the early evenings. On the Saturdays and Sundays after church there is a lot of socializing in the park with folks dressed up in their church clothes.

Since the main plaza was torn up the Sunday evening dancing and activities have moved down to the municiple plaza between Mega and Chedraui

We went to the lighthouse time before last and it was great!!!!!! We hired a van and driver and took the whole tour around the Island which included a tour of the tequila factory which was pretty interesting as well!! We got some great pics from the top of the lighthouse!!!
1. We've been to Cozumel in the fall, in the winter, in the summer--many times. I'm not sure we've ever been in early April, which is our next scheduled trip. FAQs and various sites lead me to think the water temp should be 80-82F. Generally, specifically true? Trying to decide/justify whether I should pop for a LavaCore rather than wearing either the Lycra skin that I can tolerate (though not always perfectly happily) in December or the tatty faded-neon pink Polartech that seemed so stylin' in the early '90s but is borderline embarrassing now.

2. What goes on at that other plaza, the one that appears to be at about 20th and Ave. Xel Ha/17th S? From terrain maps, it looks like it's set up well for entertainment/bands. Just wondering if we should be checking it out on some weekend evening. I know the main waterfront square is all torn up (how's it doing??), and it seems the last few times we've been there, there hasn't been much live music on Sunday nights anyhow. (Fridays or Saturdays seemed better the last couple of trips.)

3. We're staying downtown. We've done this before, but this time we might want to do some beach basking. I'm not so sure I want to go all the way to Mr. Sancho's or some big place (also, I hate seeing an iguana in a diaper). I remember walking by a couple of casual-looking little beachy/palapa restaurant-type places just north of the airport road. Are they generally pleasant, low-key places to hang out for a couple of hours to catch some sun?

4. We haven't driven to the Punta Sur lighthouse in probably 20 years. This year we might. I'm reading variously that the road is "much-improved" and kidney-shattering. If we went, I'd want to see if we could make it to the beach that appears to be pretty close to Columbia Shallows. Doable in your average Isis rental car? Worth it?

That's it for now. Thanks!
