The swell has backed off till this weekend and Thursday is looking good. So where is everyone diving? 100,000 gallons of sewage spilled out onto Lunada bay on the 7th so diving Christmas Tree or Honeymoon is out. Marineland might be a possibility, but conditions there yesterday were very muddy due to the rain. Charlie and I will probably head over to Vet's park, which seems to be our best bet.

Normally with all the rain we've had this week I wouldn't be attempting a dive so soon but it has been over a month since I've gotten wet and all long term forecasts are pointing towards a massive swell coming in this weekend and continuing on throughout next week.

Here's the LOLA nearshore map for Thursday:

Damned swell!!!!

Haven't we (NorCal, MoCal and SoCal) had enough this winter?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Good luck guys (I have to work)!

Just got back from scoping out the peninsula. Swell is ripping at all the coves so Vet's Park it is.

Thursday looks good but I have a ton of stuff to take care of. The good news is that I will be going out on the Spectre on Saturday!!!

Hey Frank, are you going out this morning? If so, let me know how the conditions are, please. I'm hoping to do a night dive tonight.

Just getting ready to head out. I got reports of 10ft of vis at Vets park yesterday evening. Lets hope it holds out for today.

How was it? Merry stopped by Vets around 1:00 and saw two divers gearing up. She said one was taller, in a drysuit with a pony bottle, but they weren't you guys, unless Charlie has polynesian cuffs and wing. :)

She must have just missed us, we pulled out of the parking lot right before 1:00. Conditions were pretty good. Visibility between 5-10ft in the shallows but once we dipped below 40ft it opened up to a solid 10-15ft.

It was Charlie and I's first dive using backplate/wings and let me tell you what a difference. My horizontal trim was absolutely perfect and I had some of the best buoyancy control I've ever had. The usual critters were out including live squid & eggs, insane amount of Sheepcrabs, Sarcastic Fringeheads and some unidentifiable juvenile fish "very small, the size of a quarter, semi translucent with brown spots".

Nice to hear the you and Charlie, too, have come to the "dark side." Sure is fun over here.
