Woot. Headed to Ginnie for the weekend.. Bringing the dive gear....
Its labor day weekend. Ginnie closes to divers on holiday weekends

Edit: whoops, just saw you spoke to them. Its odd they'd allow diving when they haven't on holiday weekends for a while. I sure hope you didn't get one of the kids that has no clue what they're talking about. There's been a lot of changes at ginnie. One of the major ones is how horribly they train their staff and how much bad info you'll get from them

I don't think Labor day is busy enough for them to close to divers. Last labor day they were open to divers. Also they normally post about special holiday rules including no diving on FB and on their website.

I went and looked around all the state parks are closed for the moment. I don't see any information on Little River, I would assume it and other Suwannee county parks are closed. Ginnie is open.

Cave Country Dive Shop said that they are tentatively planning to open tomorrow. I would assume Extreme Exposure would also be open. No updates from Dive Outpost or Amigos but they might still be without power or internet.

Both Devil's Den and Blue Grotto are open.

Right now the estimated river rise for the Santa Fe is expected to be lower than what the river was three weeks ago. And the Suwannee is expected at or just below flood levels. How accurate these are? *shrug*

I'm holding off until Tuesday or Wednesday to see how bad the flood is, and to let things mostly return to normal.

I thought it was all major holidays. Good to know. I don't go to Ginnie a ton anymore because I'm not a fan of the new management and refuse to buy an annual pass.

Ginnie has been less than gracious of late, the main reason there hasn't been a MegaDive since before Covid.

But.. I was invited along with a group of non-divers, my friend and I the only ones. So, if we dive, great. If not, no big deal. They are doing all the planning, cooking, and Driving!!! Sounds like a good weekend to me!

The Santa Fe has not come up over the past week. I expect it will begin rising after the weekend passes. It takes a couple of days for south Georgia rains to come down the Suwanee and backup the Santa Fe.

We got power and internet back yesterday afternoon. (8/30/23)
