Chad Carney:
FLAL,

Quivers work on Riffe guns, most use the flat bottom barrel model and just file it a little.

Sorry, I have not showm them in the Panhandle, but you can order direct from me.

See http://myfwc.com/marine/fish/crevallej.jpg for photos and info.

That double Quiver sure looks mean on a gun. I have the 52'’ Rhino and a custom built woody about 1 5/8 sorta like kittos guns would I have much trouble mounting them on these?

One last question if you don’t mind the highjack.. Coming from the panhandle down into florida just how far down would I have to travel to find some Hogfish Tampa maybe? I’m trying to plan some vacation time for next month

Is that near Indian rock beach just north of Saint pete?

No, it's just east of Cape San Blas.

There actually some out this way, but they're deep. Some friends diving out of Panama City Beach see a few out in 140 - 150 feet. That's a long ways out & the fuel bill is horrible. But once you get past the cape you enter hogfish range & they're in nice & shallow.

Tom,

I know there are plenty of hogfish as far north as Bayport, FL from 15' to 50' of water, and even as far as about 20 miles NW of the FL Middle Grounds.

I thought I remember hearing they were not common in shallow around Carrabelle, FL. but I could be wrong about that.

I see I copied a different link by accident, (jack crevalle); wish we could correct stupid mistakes on this board.

Quivers are found here http://www.mobilescuba.com/Quiver.htm

One model fits flat bottomed guns like Sea Hornets, Billers, JBL Woodies and the Wong MGS. Some grinding required for thicker stocks.

We have a round bottom Quiver that fits Wong Reef Guns, because they only make one size. Unfortunately Riffe makes two that I know of and they are narrower than the Wong.

So for Riffe's most people slightly modify the flat one, but the round one could be altered as well.

I have more photos I can e-mail of Quivers on Riffes.

Thanks,

Chad

If you don't mind shoot me a few of them pic's My woody is thicker than the riffe but not as big as the Wong hybrid wood handle if that helps. And of course the Rhino is square paradiseservice@gulftel.com

Ive never seen none over here but than again I haven't played that far out other than H&L. Do you know of any Charters around the cape you have first hand knowledge of. If the fuel would ease up some more I would consider pulling my own craft over. As the way it is now hell just my truck hates passing a gas station by itself

I don't know any specific charters, but there are some running out of Port St Joe. Lemme see, I think one runs out of Carrabelle, does a lot of middle grounds trips but inshore stuff, too. Go look in the Carter Trips forum on www.spearboard.com, the Pressure Drop is the boat you want there. I know a guy who lives on St George Island who shoots hogs over that way, but haven't had any contact with him in some months.
