That was something like 72 seconds . . . So, when SEA HUNT comes by, hope they cut that HP hose!

Have you actually blown one?

Me personally no. But I've been in two different dive shops when one blew. It gets everyones attention very quick.

Wow . . . I thought that was as rare as hen's teeth. What blew it, an old disc or an over pressurizing?

Blown HP hoses gets peoples attention pretty quick too.. Its pretty audible if it happens when youre in the water :p

One was about a year old and appeared to have been installed off center/over tightened.

The other I have no idea.

So do LP hoses! I thought some boats had collided. Then it started tapping me on the back, and bubbles exploded everywhere. :shocked2:

Blown LP hose on your AL80 at 800 feet.. that would be "kinda bad" I think :p

How long can you breath of a 80cu tank at like a luxfer al 80 at 800 feet also whats the formula for figuring this out heres what i got

800 divided by 33 = 24

80cu divided by 24 = 3cu

on google i found something that said the average person breaths a quarter of a cu every breath

so based on this i determined at 800 feet a tank would last 12 minutes but that just doesnt seem correct so tell me what im forgetting or messing up on

thanks for any help guys happy diving

This just has "hold my beer & watch this" written all over it, LOL

Some rough math tells me at a descent rate of 60fpm to 800' at a fairly good sac of 0.5 you'd breathe an alu 80 down to nothing somewhere around the 700' mark.

But that would mean that you're total deco obligation would be shorter, so that's a plus.

I also once was in a shop when a tank being filled blew a burst disc. This was more than just a disc, a chunk of metal came off, went through an interior wall & lodged on the inside of the front wall. We were in that room when it happened.

Many tech divers I know use much faster descent rates than that, some up to 3 times faster if they're using a DPV.
