Tek Adventure Diver:
Can some one tell me the pros and cons of using 80% for deco and o2 for deco. Which is better to dive with?
Thanks for the help:)
Guys, can we try to not turn this thread into another DIR/Anti-DIR festival of moronity? George wrote his thesis and nailed it to the cathedral door over a decade ago and we've pretty well flogged this chimp naked numerous times before.

I think a couple of you guys already answered this guys question a time or two, but if anyone wants to go over it again, have at it.

But lets stop throwing George under the bus and go do another thread on spare airs or pony tanks or something fresh and interesting... :)

Sheesh.

Dan Gibson:
That sure doesn't sound like you are commenting on George specifically. You basically called what you referred to as "a whole following" as a bunch of not thinking lemmings. Statements like this appear to make you guilty of exactly what you claim to dislike about George's delivery?
Makes you wonder who has the closed mind.

Lol...that's also where I'd leave it. However, Jeff already new that so I think it was a trick question. :14:
but it is getting close for me to start thinking about another bottle or switching to an 80 of 50%.

Here are my (simple) bottom lines w/r/t deco, and the 80/100 question.
If I plan on using two deco bottles, I use 50 and 100. (but I can use 50 and 80 if that's all I have)
If I plan on using one deco bottle, I use 80. (but I can use 100 if that's all I have)
If I'm using a travel bottle of 32 and one deco bottle, I use either 80 or 100, whichever's more convenient (usually the one with the most gas in it). I haven't yet planned any dives for travel and two deco bottles, but as the differences in deco times between 80 and 100 are minimal I reckon either would do...
I own 3 deco bottles - I generally keep one full of 50, one with 80 and one with 100.
This allows me to use the combo that gives me the best (shortest) deco times...
And compensate for poor buoyancy control :D

Sheesh.

Can we talk about naked chimps?:D

Or he could use a pony of bean flavored "Methox", that should do the trick just fine for rapid off gasing.
Awesome, I gotta try that. Who says you can't learn to deco dive off the net.
