Thanks Scubadobadoo. I'm mulling over the "need" issue.
When I'm contemplating a new piece of dive gear, The Lovely Young Kat eventually asks "do you really need it?"
My response is inevitably "no, honey.... but I reeeeealllyyyy neeeeeeeeeeed it!"

LOL! Yep! That's what my wife said when she made me buy her a new dive watch this morning. Why did she need it? Well, it has TURTLES on it for crying out loud! If that's not a neeeeeeeeeeed, I don't know what is!

I guess if I only bought what I truly needed then I wouldn't have much. :wink:
 
Playing the safety card is always a good ploy. So is "you'll need one too".

IMHO, if you're diving regulary in cold water (really cold water, not "California cold water") or doing extended, repetitive dives even in warmer water, you need a dry suit.
Hypothermia is sneaky and dangerous so here is the safety excuse. :wink:
Besides, it's just much more fun when you're not freezing your butt off. :D
