I had my first experience with the card error issue this past week - was VERY lucky that 4 or 5
on/off cycles seemed to fix it - would have been REALLY po'd to not get any pics of the Mighty O...

There really doesn't seem to be any rhyme of reason to this error, although in my case I think it
was how I disconnected from the laptop. I had set it up to download pics the night before when
I headed out to dinner. The camera was off and there was no "disconnect" option on the laptop.
All the pictures had downloaded but the battery had run out of power prior to my getting back to it.
The error hasn't occurred again but I'll definitely carry a spare card with me.

Thanks DandyDon. I've never had this experience with any other digital camera I've owned, using
almost every type of card out there. This complaint does seem to surface fairly regularly on this
and other boards/consumer forums.

I dunno, since I never have had this problem.

Don't know how Joe missed this thread. I just now PMed him asking for his input.

On my 600 if I am not careful I can bump the camera on entry and then the card needs to be reseated. it is spring loaded and cant be done in the water, so I am SOL for that dive but when I get to the surface a quick open re-seat and all better.

Really?! Shouldn't come lose that easily. All digital cameras are that way and I've never had one come lose in a bump, even when I dropped one so hard it broke. I did fail to put my card in my DC500 correctly once, and got maybe 4 shots with onboard memory. :(

Dandy Don, Thanks for the PM.

I need to get in touch with Scubaboard central because I am not getting an notices about new threads or entries as I did before.

I will go through this thread and respond accordingly.

First, I would visit our website and upload the latest firmware and reload into the camera. I haven't heard anyone that has had as many card issues, especially when switching so many cards.

Give that a shot and let me know if that helps with the card error on your existing cards.

In response to Kiteboarder, sorry that your problem wasn't solved when you sent it in. The thing with electronics that they can be finicky, I know technical response, but there could have been a chip issue that was causing all the issues. Many times we get cameras back with issues and we try our hardest to duplicate and we can't.

Hope your latest trip was great and many photos shot
