My point is that, anyone who has made 500 dives has the experience gained from those 500 dives. That is its own statement of "quality" of his dive skills. Now, there are divers with crappy skill-sets for certain dive profiles; but, if I talk to a diver about the mod-flutter kick and he has no idea as to what I'm talking about... well, who is to say that he needs that skill for his diving profile? 500 dives...

Well, there's an old joke about whether somebody has 500 dives worth of experience, or one dive that they've done 500 times . . . :)

You can easily dive without much skill at all -- I know, because I did for quite a while. I mean, literally unable to do an organized descent or hold a shallow stop. Doesn't mean it's ideal, and doesn't mean you won't have more fun (and potentially be safer) if you get better skills.

OK, maybe I am missing something, or else my computer(s) don't like the DVD. I cannot find the .pdf files on the version they sent to me. Anyone know how to access them (simple instructions please). I tried using explorer, but all I see is two folders - one for audio and one for video. The video plays just fine, but there are no other files.

But if you compare those two divers for the one dive they´re both competent to make, I submit that the one who´s done that one dive 500 times, is likely to be very good at it!

If the only ambition of that diver is to do another 500 such dives then why should he care?

I never could get it(or the Intro to Tech) to mount on my Mac(1st generation G5) and never saw the pdf files on the newer Macs in the Apple store that it would mount on. They both work with the Sony DVD player attached to my TV, but no way to get at the pdf files from there either.
