The deal breaker for me were 2 things. #1..the batteries are dedicated and costly..#2..lens speed. Bot counted against The C5060. I went for the C5050.

Same for me .... the batteries on the 5050 are 4 AA and proprietary for the 5060. Also, the lens opens up to 1.8 on the 5050. I think it is 2.8 on the 5060. Though the fastest shutter speed on the 5060 is 1/4000 compared to 1/1000 on the 5050, but for me, having too much light is usually not an issue.

Here are the key differences:
zoom - 5050: 3x (35-105 mm) 5060: 4x (27-110 mm)
lens - 5050: F1.8-8 5060: F2.8-8
storage media - 5050 CF, xD, MicroDrive, SmartMedia 5060: xD only
speed - 5050: 1.4 fps 5060: 1.7 fps

The 5060 can also use standard CF type I and II, not just xD only. The only difference is the SM, which shouldn't be a big issue.

Thats as far as you need to go.

HOWEVER - the strobe port ont eh PT-020 did throw a wrench into the works...

Ultimately, it was price and lens speed that mad me roll with the 5050.

The menu's just rock.... 8 presets?!!! C'mon. The thing is MADE for UW photography!

I'm sold! Now I just need to find a 5050 in my price temperment.

Just got mine... there are 3 - 10 a day that go off on eBay, and as always, there are treasures.
