As far as I can get from the article:

5 divers went diving at 4:30 pm on wednesday.

4 of them are missing. The fifth one was rescued at 6:30 am thursday. The one rescued is an american citizen. According to him, all surfaced, and the group of 4 inflated a SMB.

There are 3 Colombian Navy ships on the Look out, plus the dive charter (María Patricia) and a Colombian air force plane also.

Of the missing divers, So far the ages of 2 of them are public. One of 42 and the other one is 37 years old

Will try to keep all of you updated. Just hope for the best outcome

It said they got caught in a current, the American was rescued after spending 14 hours in the water. The news article was released yesterday afternoon.

The names has been released (3 males and 1 female). All are certified divers. One of them is an OWSI, who was the Dive guide. Of the other 2 males that went diving, one of them has Dive before at Malpelo.

According to another article about this sad event, they were doing one last Dive at this spot. They had been diving for 6 days, and were doing this last Dive.

According to the radio interview that was broadcasted about 1 hour ago, with the admiral in charge of the pacific coast, the diver that was found, was located holding to a rock. According to this last report, the american diver got dissoriented due to the strong current (?) that was present at the time. He was able to see then (thelost group) swimming behind him and then lost them. Also is stated that a ship from the US is joinning the search

Mantendremos búsqueda de buzos el tiempo que sea necesario: Armada Nacional

The one rescued was found on a rock south of the island (la Torta), while they dove on a rock north of the island (Catedral). They have been caught by the currents (always present at Catedral rock, strong by these months).
He decided to drop his gear, left the group and swam towards the island.
They started the last dive of the day on wednesday at 16:30 and he was discovered (shocked, of course) thursday at 6:30 and rescued by the crew of Mv Yemaya, arriving at Malpelo.

I personally knew the disapeared divemaster.

May they stay in peace in the depths.

Not quite sure why he dropped his gear (assuming his BCD with tank?) rather than putting air on the BCD, floating & finning towards the island, which sounds to me to be safer than swimming without gear with possibility of passing out & drown before getting to the island.
