It's a worth method for trying. How much depth is appropriate? As my feeling earlier. The deeper water, the buoyancy greater.
Depth is irrelevant here. As long as the body doesn't deform under pressure it will displace the same amount of water at 1cm depth as it will at 10km.

If you want a quick and dirty test of submerged "weight", fill a container with water to the very edge. Put the flashlight in it. Weigh the water that spilled over the top. Subtract

If you know the volume and weight, you can calculate density and solve for buoyancy. Alternatively, density can easily be measured by submerging the light in a tank with volume hash marks (like a huge measuring cup).

Sorry to repeat myself.

Wurkkos is a company, which should have engineers, designers and a QA. So there has to be knowledge how to quantify these things. Especially to which precision, snd they should habe the budget to buy a necessary precise tool. A luggage scale measures like up to 40kg, and its not necessary to be precise within less than 0.1kg.
So its not really suitable to measure something in the range of 0.05 to 0.5kg (buyoncy!).

So what I am talking about is exactly customer support. As mentioned here by the representabt of the company the discussion with the customer is essential for them. Now Indo not define it as good, if its a reply with a like and "good question/remark I put it on the agenda". I believe if someone ask a question a good customer service will ask INTERNALLY and give the appropriate answer and not adk the customer how to measure it...
So if a private person owns equipment and wants to measure it - explanations all god. But if a company asks how to do this and obviously shows a non understanding of the physics its a no-go. Well yeah a kind of media / customer service does not have to know everything, but please ask internally before demonstrating customers that you have no idea whar you are talking about.
Besides whats the status of becoming a supporter?

As promised. I just received this light and have been messing around. Couple of pros and cons so far.

+ Build quality feels good.
+ o rings feel like they are good quality and there is nice grease on them

- No way to connect a bolt snap to the light
- If using a goodman handle the rotating ring that turns on and off the light will stop to function cause it is pressed against the goodman handle. I am 3dprinting a solution for this at the moment.

Will test this Saturday in the water and report back with hopefully some gopro footage as well

Yep, that's true. Many tests features are compiled based on user request. In previous communications with some diving enthusiasts too. I have asked Wurkkos factory add the underwater weight now.
Also, sometimes we will publicly release some supporter spots to all professional divers. PM me within that period to become a supporter.

Got it! Thanks for your great feedback now. The goodman handle interface is the problem we urgently need to upgrade.

I am not a professional diver...

Are you sure you want to make a Goodman Handle for this big light? I believe its too heavy, better with a canister attachted to bcd/wing and a cord...

No worries, if you can also make a attachment point for a boltsnap, have a 7 degree beam angle and make it a bit smaller (i don't think anyone needs 20000 lumen :). I think most of us here in murky waters want a tight beam angle, max 5000 lumen and around 2,5 hours on max.

I would buy that light immediately :)

I have 3d printed one and although it is heavy on land, I have yet to try it in the water. Will do that tomorrow and report back
