The Defender, an experimental submarine made in 1907, was inspired from the Jules Verne novel "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea."

Commercial divers find wreckage of early 1900s submarine off Long Island Sound

The Defender was rejected by the U.S. Navy and repurposed for salvaging treasure from shipwrecks — until it became one itself.

Thank you @PEDiver for the interesting read about Simon Lake XV renamed the "Defender".
Simon's scheme to salvage gold is a pretty good one, no one would even know your were there.

Riding on the bottom sure does make me laugh, maybe cause my imagination starts with the Oscar Mayer Weiner mobile circling Spongebob's bikini bottom.

This wreck is listed on Nautical Charts. Anyone know the exact depth or a Charter Boat that will take a small group to that wreck?
