I couldn't get the flickering problem resolve and emailed to Archon email through their website didn't get any responds. I hung out at Archon facebook site to complain the problem and a Archon dealer from Mexico put me in touch with someone from Xiware Technologies (seems like they're the real manufacturer/LED specialist behind Archon). I just email her the Youtube flickering sample video and some of the discussion in this thread, will see what kind of solution for after sales support I will get.

I have a pair of Archon D11V video lights I just recently purchased. When used on low power setting they do have a slight flicker on video but it's less pronounced than yours. I had read somewhere that they where upgraded the circuitry to help with the flickering. I don't know if any of that is the case.

Anyways they are great lights for the money. Here's a thread I started with reviews, video and pics of the light. I've only tested it in my pool so far. I will be using it on some dives in the Caribbean in a couple weeks.

Hm..... the D11v flickering on low setting is still not acceptable, especially during night dive because it will be too prominent. I got the respond from Xiware and am impress that she's very fast at communicating. I was told they do get many report about the D32vr flickering so they will replace the circuit board for free of charge. However, the shipping of the light to them is will have to be out of my pocket, I'm still waiting answer about if I have to pay for the light to ship back to me once it's replace.

I haven't got the address so I don't know how much it would cost to ship from US to China. Anyone have recommended post service? I think USPS International Flat rate is some where around $25?

I was considering getting a D11v to go with the D32vr, so I can have 1400 lumen, 860 lumen, and 400 lumen (?) for my set up. But the problem is the extra charger and battery type that I will have to pack, and now that seeing the D11v would flicker, it's really a deal breaker.

Anyway, I will report back what happen to my light. I had Two D32vr, but sold one on ebay on the lost and got one X-adventure M2000. Once the D32vr is fixed, I should have a 800/1400/2400 lumen set up. The x-adventure is nice, but its red mode is not as strong as D32vr.

FWIW from someone I have been bouncing questions off for some time now. He has been testing out lights and videos for years and years. His take on the same situation from a month ago. "One issue you'll find in dealing with LED video lights is they ruin video if you run them at a reduced power. This is as a result of the way the drivers work. Generally to reduce output they flash the light incredibly fast. We don't notice, but it screws with the video."

Yes. LED drivers are switch mode supplies, not steady current. The power setting controls the switching frequency. If the switching frequency is similar to, or a multiple of, the video frame rate bad stuff happens.

Sooo changing fps on camera might do the trick :?

From what I've heard no. It may change the how prominent it appears but I don't think it will solve it. If you are satisfied using your LED light at full power for filming, as I am, then you have no problem. I can use my LED at low setting for general illumination, just not for filming. Not a big deal to me.

Full power is ok yes! But of some animals/macro it can be to bright.
