If you want to dive Menjagan Island (and you should), stay in Pemuteran at Taman Sari or Taman Selinii resorts. Both resorts have decent kitchens. Boat trip to Menjagan only about 40 minutes. 3 good dive operators on the beach in Pemuteran. Also, off-shore snorkeling in Pemuteran Bay is easy and great due to the Biocrete reef regeneration project (see photos at Global Coral Reef Alliance website). I was there in January 2004, had a great time.

There is a local not-for-profit diving club in Bali who might be able to give you some advice. I don't think they run trips, but should be able to point you in the right direction; http://www.kapalselam.org/

If you are particularly interested in photography you can try http://www.diveanddives.com/. They are the oldest and one of the best, though basically aimed at the Japanese market I think. Another place catering for underwater photographers is http://www.abyssadventures.com/.

Thanks all. My trip is canceled. We have a 3 month old baby and wishful thinking turned out to be just that...wishful thinking. Looks like she is not going to be okay without her mother just yet.
