I would like to have your machine shop close by. Usual shop minimum charge is an hour at 40 to 50 bucks. I could hardly do it myself for $5 worth of electricity just to run the lathe

I found out long ago it was cheaper to buy a lathe than pay the machine shops $50 everytime I had a 5 minute job.
