    How to improve gas management?

What type of diving will you be doing? If you ever have to share air though, dive over! Hopefully you can ascend at a normal rate, but if not you need to get both divers to the surface...

    Hammerhead Scuba still in Business?

Hey I just ordered the cold water package from them in May. I solid piece that works well with an Oxycheq wing I have. Some people say that you need to debur the edges of the plate. Mine came in great shape and allow I spent some time with it, my time was probably not needed. Still a great...

    Tanks for a newbie

The weight... that too should not be a problem. The HP100 is a great tank? Although there is different HP100's to look at as well. I found the following website very helpful when determining what tank to buy Dive Rite Express -- How to Select a SCUBA Tank For the HP100 look at the "Tank...

Poor grad student in need of regulator advice

You might have differences between brands, but since your set on ScubaPro just make sure there is a dealer near you that can service SP. There should not be a difference between servicing regs from the same company. I have not used those regs so I cannot be more helpful than that... Good Luck!

    New Year Diving Resolutions

Dive a more..... Maybe take an intro to tech course along the way somewhere... And dive a lot more!

    How dry is a semi-dry?

I use a DUI CF200X (crushed neoprene) and have had no problems... For the original thread: If you dive enough to make a drysuit investment, it is definitely worth it! Look around at what others in your area are diving. For beach dives the CF that I have is tough enough to get a little...

Tank Advice - First Time Buying

Thanks everyone for the advice. Ok... so this seems to be mostly personal preference, but I think the 130's have been eliminated. Which only leaves tanks in the 100-120 range. So this is my last tank question (for now). When you look at the Faber FX100 it is listed on DiversDirect as...

What is your favorite type of BC?

The answers you see here will vary greatly from overall population of divers. In my experience, most divers use a traditional jacket style, although back inflation types are becoming more popular. The problem with this survey here is you are asking ScubaBoard members. There is a reason we all...

Tank Advice - First Time Buying

How about doubling up 130's? Is that excessive? Is there a disadvantage to bringing slightly larger tanks besides they weight more on the surface? I guess the choice now is 100's, 120's or 130's....

    Atom 2.0 or 1.0?

You got it right, the Atom 1 does not have the tanks psi, which is extremely annoying when diving! Especially if you check your gauges frequently at all. It is not listed, but since you are naming Oceanic comps, check out the VT3. It is much larger and easier to read. When I was getting the...

    Buoyancy Question

A quick answer to your question: You are "properly weighted" according to the text books when you can float at eye level, while holding a normal breath, with no air in your BCD, with 500psi in your tank. Air has weight, if you start the dive a little light on lead, by then end of the dive...

    Feet during giant stride ?

I agree with dF... big drops, bring your legs together! I think your back foot should probably be pointing down as you kick when you hit the water. Good question though though cause I usually "just let it happen"

Tank Advice - First Time Buying

Thanks again everyone for your input... as a clarification, my choice is not between 1 single tank vs. 2 doubled tanks, but rather purchasing two separate tanks now that can be doubled in the future. I like the HP100's, but being on the bigger side am considering slightly bigger tanks. Has...

Tank Advice - First Time Buying

For those that dive 130's... have you ever doubled them up? Also, if you do not mind me asking how tall / big are you? I am sure they trim nice, but I would rather not go excessive if smaller tanks will fulfill my needs. Thanks again everyone for helping me figure this out!

Tank Advice - First Time Buying

Thanks for the replies everyone! So a couple more comments / questions. I'll assume for now, since most of my diving is done helping classes, that for the single tanks I use do not have to be very large since most people will have higher SAC rates. On the other hand as I begin to switch over...

Tank Advice - First Time Buying

I am looking to buy a set of tanks. I dive primarily in the NE and definitely want steel tanks, but cannot settle on a size. Here is a little about me... Just switched to a BP/W setup and plan on getting into tech (primarily deep/wreck) diving in future. Until I am ready... have the...

Thanks Keith! I read that post, but am looking at buying the 40# (since it is on sale at ST)... I am glad to see that there are happy Oxycheq users though. Thanks everyone!
