    Maui Zip Line Recommendation

Hey all, Heading to Maui on the 17th. All four of us (wife and kids) plan on diving, but we are also planning on some non-dive activities. I'm looking for a suggestion specifically for zip lining (leaning toward Piiholo Ranch) but also for tips on anything cool that may be different...

    South Maui Shore Dives?

We did a dive trip to Maui about four years ago with 7 of us from our club. Two-a-day all week. On Thursday, when trying to decide on our last dive of the week (did some sight seeing on Friday) we all unanimously agreed to do Mala Pier again. What a great dive. My wife and I ended up out...

    Belize City or Placencia

Another question: What's the best way to get from Belize City to Placencia? I see flights for about $234 and I've heard it's 3.5 hours by road. I don't mind the long drive as long as it's reliable transportation...and cheaper than $1k for the family of 4.

    Belize City or Placencia

As usual, I am not disappointed in the amount of feedback I get here. Thanks for the definitive feedback and the suggestions for tour operators. We found our Cairns, Australia guide the same way here. Looks like we will likely be hitting Placencia for a week or so, then maybe another few...

    Belize City or Placencia

I am planning a trip for next year for the family. All of us dive, but I'm the only fanatic. We are looking for a couple of days of diving, a couple of days for sightseeing (my daughter really likes the idea of tubing in a cave) and a couple of days of whatever. I like the idea of Airbnb for a...

    Advice for Belize

Thanks again for the info everyone. Yobubba, if the regular group tags along who knows where we will roam. If I get up north I just may give you a buzz..

    Advice for Belize

Thank you both for replying. I'm definitely reconsidering the self-guided tours for the reasons you mention. Having never been there, I think I'll rely on the locals to show us around. Also, I have heard that one of the tour operators offers pickup service at the airport. I think we have...

    Advice for Belize

Hey All, I searched all the Belize threads I could find and would still like a little more information. My wife has wanted to go to Belize for a long time. Now that she is certified (diver that is) we want to make this a dive/adventure vacation. We are celebrating our 25th anniversary so I'm...

    Sandals Saint Lucia

Just a quick correction. It's Scuba St. Lucia, NOT St. Lucia Divers.

    Sandals Saint Lucia

I would skip Sandals and stay further south. My wife and I created our own all-inclusive trip at Anse Chastanet. Best vacation ever. Incredible diving with an all-star group of dive masters at St Lucia Divers (located at the resort). Great resort and the 12 rooms on the beach have A/C.

    Maui Shore Dives

Thanks for the quick replies folks. Luckily I have a brand new packable dive flag/float. Thanks for the heads up on B&B. I didn't think about multiple tanks but if the wife and I go out to explore for the day it would certainly be nice to have enough for two dives each.

    Maui Shore Dives

So this has been here a while, but I had a question about the dive flags. Is it a law to use dive flags on all shore dives? Also, are the shops listed here still the hot tickets for tank rentals? And lastly, I don't see any listings for weight rentals (though I haven't looked too hard yet)...

    Jelly Identification

That's pretty cool. I can't believe how much my interest has been rekindled by everyones help. I took a Marine Biology class back in college but was discouraged from that path by the lack of "Real Jobs" in that category. The good thing is that I now have a "Real Job" which pays well enough and...

    Jelly Identification

Thanks everyone. And Dr. Bill, your timing couln't have been better. I was going to send you a note personally through a link on the Salp but realized that I don't have the pic on my work computer. Thanks again for all the information. Scott T

    Jelly Identification

Right you are. Cyclosalpa Affinis to be exact. Pretty cool stuff to read about. I just needed the right search words. Thanks for the information. Scott T

    Jelly Identification

I took this picture on Saturday. There were two of these at about 50 ft. This was the larger one at about 1 1/2" in diameter. I have looked for two days and can not find an identification for it. Maybe someone here can help. I am also including a picture that I think may be a baby Moon Jelly. It...

    Cairns Advice

I've tried to leave some well deserved feedback for Andrew and his staff, but have not been able to do so. I have decided to leave it here, for now anyway. I would suggest to anyone traveling to Cairns to look Andrew up first. He handles not only diving, but all sightseeing in the area. His...

Andy, Thanks again for the replies and information. I don't have our itinerary right here, but we should be in Cairns between March 16 and March 20. Hope that helps. Thanks in advance, Scott T
