    Newb BP&W & Jacket Questions

This was a major factor that brought me to the DSS plate. The blocks that hold the cam bands to the plate are an example of elegant simplicity.

    Bungee cord mounting an SK7

The window is facing down (6 o'clock). Re: Left wrist - As bryanmc57 noted above, the left hand controls buoyancy, whether opv or inflator. When ascending, you need to watch your depth/time, not compass direction. Tip: Watch the bezel ring on the SK7. It can easily pop off, especially when...

    Newb BP&W & Jacket Questions

In all likelihood, the harness on your friend's bp/w was not adjusted properly for your dimensions, and perhaps the plate was not sized properly to fit you. When the harness is properly adjusted, there is a little give in the shoulders, no digging anywhere, and your arms are free to move...

    LA shore dives

I'll add my vote for Shaws/Crescent. Lots of crevices and narrows (when the surge is light); great sea life; easy access (except for parking issues). Laguna Sea Sports is right there for fills, etc. What is the story about that statue anyway? I understand she occasionally suffers "relocation."

    Bungee cord mounting an SK7

The compass is usually worn on the left arm. If you want to configure it for the right, everything will be a mirror image. Notice that there are three sets of holes at each of the four mounting points. I'll follow the convention of numbering the holes with one at the top, the compass...

Dive suggestions for Monterey, CA area

I did a couple of shore dives off San Carlos Beach (Breakwater and the Metridium Field) a couple of weeks ago. I added a 5 mm hood and vest to my 7 mm wetsuit and was fine. Water temp was 51 degrees at 40 fsw.

    Sport Chalet Hydro/Tumble

I just picked up two Al-80's from my local Sport Chalet. They were in for hydro. Both came back tumbled as well. The odd thing was that one of them had been vis'd just two months ago with no sign of corrosion and dived just one time after the vis. Yet that one was tumbled along with the...

    Possible Move to South Wisconsin

Thanks, Capt'n. We'll do. The move is still in the decision phase; nothing final yet. But it's always good to know the way to the water. And a good boat.

    Possible Move to South Wisconsin

Thanks for all the Midwest ScubaBoard love! I grew up in Chicago, so this is more of a return to the homeland rather than an attempted southern CA transplant. The blood still runs pretty thick, even after all these years. Probably all that deep dish pizza. I'm good to the mid-50's with my...

Shooting salt water up my nose everyday & feeling good! Anybody else doing this?

The Mayo Clinic recommends this procedure for runny nose and nonallergic rhinitis. Mayo Clinic researchers have found that chronic sinusitis may be caused by toxic snot, in which case a sinus rinse may just be what the doctor ordered. The Mayo Clinic Store sells the NeilMed product line...

    Possible Move to South Wisconsin

I'm considering a move from southern California to southern Wisconsin. (Yes, I know that sounds insane on a scuba forum, but life's more complicated on the land.) Here's my question: If I choose to part ways with Catalina and Laguna Beach what are my Midwest immersion options? Will my 7mm...
