Hampton Dive Center in Riverhead. I will hopefully be going through their tech program in a year. $$$ is my only enemy. The staff is very knowledgeable and the shop caters to rec and tech divers alike. I have met a few life long diving buddies through the shop and we are all progressing together...
Thanks for the info Kevin. I would love to do something like that. Problem is I'm spending four days at a horse ranch nearby. The Mrs. Didn't have a problem with me sneaking of for a couple hours to get a dive in while we were up there.
Just dove the San Diego twice in the past two weeks. A few people were in wet suits, but most of us go dry. Water temp at 100ft was probably around 51 degrees. Tolerable for some but not for others.
Freakin awesome dive. You will enjoy it. A lot has changed on that wreck from all the sketches I...
Alex, I live on Long Island and have been certified for about 10 years. i never really got to do as much diving as I wanted until last year. i joined a dive club and made a lot of Dive buddies and naturally did more diving last year than in any other year I was certified. This year a few of...
I'm looking to dive the west jetty of the inlet either this Saturday or next Friday.
I have heard some things about diving at or a little after high slack, I'm curious if anyone has an info on the best time to hit this spot?
Also do I need to fly a flag at this spot as well? I'm assuming yes...
I dive a lot around long island and when I started I was using a 7mm wetsuit for all my training and dives. All training was at dutch as well.
I have since switch to a dry suit and tend to use it year round as I get pretty cold when I dive.
I have checked out a lot of shops on long island...
I freed a very large rock crab on Saturday from fishing line. I would never dive without a knife and EMS shears. Most divers I see in the Northeast dive with a few different cutting tools. Better to have and not use than to need and not have.
I purchased the XTX 50 last season. Now this season Im thinking about buying a set for doubles. Great reg to grow into. I bought din for the simple fact that I can always get a yoke adapter. I plan on starting tech courses in about 2 years so I wanted something I could grow into.
Love this reg.
I bought the XTX 50 last season for about $500. I havent looked back yet and dont regret the purchase. In fact I like it so much Im planning on buy a set of them for doubles. The single does have swivel and is good in cold water.
Its a reg that can be grown into if need be.
I do a little bit of wreck diving in the Northeast. I do not dive doubles yet, but would like to in the next season or so. Most dive boats around here have a variety of divers depending on the depth of the wreck.
You will see the new student with an aluminum 80 up to the advanced tech diver...
