Only my 2p worth but I wouldn't want to arrive on unknown dive sites and just head off with a buddy.
Our local diving would be done no justice by this approach as most of the sites have some unique feature that would likely be missed without a local guide. Caverns, swim throughs, spots known...
Can't speak for the US/Canada but in UK law you have entered into a contract for the supply of goods. You have fulfilled your side of the deal by paying the agreed price, they have yet to fulfil their part of the contract by delivering the goods.
Did you complete an order form? If so then...
GoPro 3
150+ dives
42m
No, red filter clips over the lens and is awful. No longer used.
No leaks
O ring wiped with a lint free cloth after rinse and dry. Occasional light grease and wipe.
The guy who leads many of our dives wears a Buddy Commando that he thinks is about 30 years old and has done over 15,000 dives with. Buy right, buy once.
Thanks all, confirms what I thought to be the case. I am very lucky to live in a sub tropical climate with cheap and easy access to diving. As mentioned I have dived at night on several occasions, most before completing the AOW with PADI. I always carry 2 spare lights.
I quoted the above...
Thanks Tom, limited choice here, there are only 2 operators. He is normally a very level lad but seemed to have his panties rather bunched about this point. I take it then PADI has no such requirement amongst their myriad of certifications?
I have been diving for almost a year and have accumulated 140 dives in that time. I recently completed my PADI AOW course including the night dive.
This was something of a superfluous outing having already logged 30+ night dives for which I had no special training, just an explanation of the...
I hope to own a Petrel in the future as I venture towards the tec training. Currently I have a Geo 2 and have had no problems with it. The USB cable is a bit of a con at £40 and the manual is awful but for every day use it is superb. Just replaced a battery at 140 dives.
Tragic for all involved but how many of us wear a PFD when on a boat pre/post diving? Locally the operators insist on PFD's for snorkelling trips but I have never seen divers wearing them at home or when travelling.
I always find it interesting to read the different opinions regarding equipment. At the level of diving you mentioned it is unlikely that you will ever balance the financial equation in favour of purchasing. Don't forget to include maintenance costs when counting the £££'s, it all adds up.
15...
I love entering the water just as sun sets and seeing the change from "Day shift" to "Night shift". As mentioned your field of view being restricted to your light makes for a much more focussed experience and personally I find the tranquility of diving exponentially increases at night...
Nanight Submersible Light System | Nanight Sport, Full Kit Value Pack One of these. Superb light.
a new Miflex 210 hose
a new 3l steel pony with a Beuchat DIN reg
a used 7l Alu with Apeks DIN reg.
All this despite the ban imposed on all Scuba purchases! :)
I went through a phase of trying to but the cheapest dive lights on the market just to see how good they were (or not). In the end I bought about a dozen lights ranging from £5-40. Of the one I bought 4 still work, probably about 50 dives on each. All of them made wild claims about the lumen...
Fancy a bit of a commute? Our local centre www.facebook.com/divesthelena?ref=hl . Diving would suit as it is all boat diving but getting here is the real adventure!
Vast majority of the diving is from RIB's so all of our water exits are kit passed up anyway. We have a few divers who need...
I am confused and it's not even Friday yet.
Does your Uni or town have a dive club/shop? How many of there members or customers expressed an interest "A SCUBA suit that works around the problem of DCI"
