    Maui Dive Trip Tips

I'm pretty sure his name is Alan. My wife and I have used Lahaina Divers several times. We dove with Alan 3 straight days on our last trip. He is fairly abrasive and controlling; I didn't like him at all at first. Basically, he just doesn't like inexperienced divers and it takes him a while...

    Scuba Sciences Regulator Repair Problem

Yep - it is a Zeagle. Unfortunately, I think there is only one shop in the valley that can service it.

    Backplate/Wing Instruction

I was acutally wondering if I could use one of them. I don't know much about them - but I have seen a lot of positive comments on Scubaboard.

    Backplate/Wing Instruction

Thanks for the advice. I actually had a short email conversation with Corey. Unfortunately he never mentioned them replacing anything. He suggested a H OEM replacement from a certified H shop. I just wasn't sure if that suggestion was something he had to say since he works there. That is...

    Backplate/Wing Instruction

Any particular reason you recommend them? I also should have been a little more clear in my original post. I'm not looking for one of the Halcyon stainless steel inflators. I just want one of the OEM plastic ones. I just don't know if I actually need to get the Halcyon OEM inflator or if I...

    Backplate/Wing Instruction

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but since we're talking about BP/Wings... Does anyone know a good place where I can get a replacement inflator for my Halcyon wing? It has recently started to leak a little and it is a non-serviceable unit. Trianii, if it weren't for the current problem, I...

    New dive spot !

I also think it'll be pricey. But, the first time I saw Nemo33, I was amazed by how (relatively) inexpensive it is. For a 45 minute session, it is only $15-$26 depending on time of day and membership level. I think their pool goes to 120 feet too.

    Scuba Sciences Regulator Repair Problem

At this point it really is beyond the refund. While I would still like one, it appears that will not happen. Shortly before this thread was locked I received my last message from a Scuba Sciences employee. Basically, I was told that they had exhausted our communication lines and they had made...

    My Reg incident

Dash, Yeah you pretty much nailed it. I was pretty confused by the whole situation at first. Like I mentioned previously, an incident like this had never crossed my mind before. I actually remember thinking at the time that I wished I had thought through something like this happening so I...

    Scuba Sciences Regulator Repair Problem

I have been asked about using the video I posted for educational purposes. Even though nobody really needs my permission since I have posted it in a public forum, I wanted to make sure that everybody knows they are absolutely welcome to use any portion of the story or video for educational...

    Scuba Sciences Regulator Repair Problem

A couple of days ago, I actually rewrote the story to remove the LDS name and any mention of a service problem at all. I also added some of the things I learned from the ordeal. I put it in the 'accidents and incidents' forum thinking it could create some good discussion and serve as a...

    Scuba Sciences Regulator Repair Problem

No offense taken at all. I'm sure I did things wrong. The whole event was extremely unexpected and definitely took me by surprise. Now that it has opened my eyes a little, I feel like I will be better prepared for other emergencies in the future. Feel free to comment on things you would...

    Scuba Sciences Regulator Repair Problem

You know, I've thought a lot about that since this event. I am really glad that I had already switched to my backup before the problem occurred. As it happened, I could still breathe while I was trying to wrap my head around exactly what had happened. I think I would have been a lot more...

    My Reg incident

I thought I'd share my recent reg incident, please take a look at this thread for the story. (note the specific LDS is not important, it is the events that I think we can all learn from) Since I survived unharmed, I can say that was an amazing learning experience. I have a full predive...

Seriously? I can't tell if that is sarcasm or not. I didn't realize that was something I would have to deny. But for the record, no I did not loosen the hose with a wrench.

    Scuba Sciences Regulator Repair Problem

I have been reading this thread with great interest since I noticed it has drawn so much attention. For the most part, I have tried to stay out of the conversation as much as possible since it is clear what my views are and there probably wasn't much that I could productively add. I am glad...

Recommendation on a BC for the wife.

It is a huge personal preference thing, but I'll throw another Zena vote in. My wife says it is by far the most comfortable one she has tried on.

    Scuba Sciences Regulator Repair Problem

Wow, I've been away for a few days and I didn't realize this thread had generated so much discussion. I just wanted to briefly discuss a few points. First, in hindsight, I should have checked the tightness of the connection myself. I do have a predive checklist that I routinely go...

    Scuba Sciences Regulator Repair Problem

Hey guys, I've never posted here, and I'm not sure if it is appropriate. If not, just let me know and I'll remove it. But, I just thought you might like to be made aware of a serious issue with one of our local dive shops. In November, I took my regulator in to Scuba Sciences for annual...
