The "polished" AL80 scuba tank...My experience

It passed VIS, they were impressed and said they were really only worried about everyone asking me to do it to there tanks. HA. Had I not just had a hydro I think they would have been reluctant, and possibly rightfully so as they do not know just how much I sanded down other then to just "trust...

First Tobermory Dive Trip Report - Sept/2016

Thanks - I am in Goderich this weekend and the water here is SUPER rough - to rough for a shore dive. Any idea on where I could get conditions for Toby? Are the shore dives in a bay that is protected? I notice the Big Tub and small tub are kind of protected, wonder if I could salvage the weekend...

    Deep6 regulator reviews?

I haven't had time to really put together a review, I have had them for a little bit now. Long story short - there good, Breath easy, adjustable, and they are tuned to really deliver (in terms of air). You can tell they put more of a focus on quality then there closest competitors. I would...

The "polished" AL80 scuba tank...My experience

Appreciate the info, I was going to give it a 2K clear (same thing that is on cars) and then polish that clear but after reading that post I may just leave it and see how it goes. For the bottom of the tank it would be nice to give it some protection

The "polished" AL80 scuba tank...My experience

I had picked up a lightly used AL80 and it was due for a hydro. The original colour was the clear brushed aluminum, it looked nice but after seeing a post here about a polished tank I thought'd I would go for it. Now this is just my experience, i made some mistakes and do not know the effects it...

    Water Proof Draco Dry Suit

I don't know enough to say but....does it leak? And from where? I bought a trilam suit that was 8 years old with latex seals. The drysuit still had tags on it from the store and was never used just stored in its bag it came in. I was worried Id have to replace stuff but it seems to work perfectly.

    3d printing scuba gear

If you are looking to get into basic prints and just want something to tinker with - I would look at Prusa i3 variants...I have a few set up here. Pony bottle

How to rig a pony bottle? Similar thread and it was only a couple weeks ago that it was posted.... two sides of this coin; one side (tbone's side) is that there should never be a reason where you require them. In a OOA you would have your buddies air (and I guess in worst case scenario CESA)...

    Shore diving - solo

I am having a similar issue, going on a cruise November 5, and hitting Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Belize. I will have a snorkeling buddy but no matter how hard I try I just can't get her to put a tank on - I also cant do an organized dive because that would mean leaving her alone for a few hours...

To buy a regulator, or keep renting

I would say go for it - You will end up diving more since you won't have to worry about any sort of rental expense. I just bought some new stuff from Deep 6...so far I enjoy it and it doesn't break the bank either (includes a cool dry case to and free spare parts in the shipment!) . Another...

Looking for a new computer... Advice needed!

Like many others, I am contemplating which computer to buy - I already own a full set of gear my most recent purchase a second hand but never used drysuit. Like some I HATE spending money, and seeing as how I was able to do all the dives and just follow a buddies computer or use the free tables...

For Sale LTT/LTS/LTB: Dive Rite Classic Wing for single wing.

I demod his stuff at a shop and ended up buying a whole set of regs and fins. His products speak for themselves. To be honest I didn't try the wing but I am sure it will meet your expectations. Chris who started and runs the company is a great guy and I think he may be from from the east...

    First time to 60 feet

I am not saying it shouldn't mean much I just know in fact that it doesn't.... ie I think you only need 5 or 10 dives IF that to do the AOW. What are the skills required that you have not already done in OW, navigation? DM's, guides, charters don't usually ask me what cert I have but how many...

    First time to 60 feet

At first I had similar thoughts BUT essentially he is just getting more instruction to help him learn best practices and techniques - Why not get a card at the same time? Just because someone holds an AOW it doesn't really mean much, I have seen DM's that struggle with keeping a decent buoyancy....
