A stupid questions about rebreather training

fwiw, I went to CCR after 60 dives on single tank (and PADI Rescue cert). Moving to CCR early was a very steep learning curve, but thanks to some mates who are very experienced techies, I am now a MOD2 CCR diver (Normoxic Trimix to 60m)

    "Discover Rebreather" experience

I always hated the noise of open circuit, also the time limits, so going to CCR was an easy decision. yes, buoyancy is difficult, but once u dial it in, it becomes a lot more fun i <3 my JJ-CCR!

which is cheaper, Open circuit or CCR?

I am finding my JJ-CCR costs about AU$12 an hour. Then again, I am only doing shallow training dives atm. Prices may change slightly as/when I go deeper

    Breathing control!

get a CCR :P i use ridiculous amonts of air when on open circuit. My lowest SAC (18.5L/m) was when I was on holiday (warm water, relaxed dive). On a stressful dive, I have used 36L/m (almost 1.3cf). I got my average SAC down by doing the following: 1. get fit 2. stay warm 3. relax

Why do we hate the Air2?

i never found a problem when using mine (I have the Zeagle version), yes breathing is slightly more difficult that my normal regs, but otherwise it is fine in use. i used mine with a long hose and bp/w setup. Now that I have moved into tech diving, the air2 has been relegated to my...

inflator valve, chest strap, inflator hose comes off

keep it simple, relocate the strap. I had the same issue, (standard bp/w + Fusion drysuit), so I just moved it slightly

Need some good tricks for dealing with sea sickness.

lots of good advice in this thread, but no one mentioned lying down? I always found it the best short term cure. Also, take the pills early and often for the first few days. I find that after about 3 days I don't need pills.

Scuba Pro - Black Tech and X-Tek Gear

    Proper Weighting while using Drysuit

yeah, go jump in the local pool and do your checks. Get comfy and then do the math for salt water. I did not do this, and had a very scary 20m dive off a boat! VERY bad idea!

Does anyone dive with tables anymore?

i find them too big and heavy. plus the drag is a killer! :P fwiw, when I started diving I decided NOT to use a computer. I wanted to learn using just my watch + depth gauge + tables. For single dives this was fine, but once I started doing multiple dives it was difficult to keep track. So I...

What type of fins do you use and why?

I'm still searching for the perfect fin... So far I have 4 sets of fins :( Mares Xstream (my first fins. ok for recreational, not good for frog kick, not very durable) Force Fin Pro's (too small, will prob keep for my kids) Oceanic V16 (ok for recreational, not good for frog kick. Also get...

How deep have you gone on air?

i recently i went to 45m (about 145ft). Unfortunately, I panicked (narcosis + low air + the work i was doing) and then made a very fast accent. I consider myself very lucky to have got out with no issue. Prob due to short dive time (7 minutes) Definitely in the "Lets not do that again category"!
